SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Michigan knew Florida State would present problems after watching the Seminoles pick apart a talented VCU squad in their first game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Paul Kariya Ducks Jersey . What the Wolverines didnt know is that theyre a lot more resilient than they might have realized. Nik Stauskas scored 26 points, including seven in overtime, as No. 14 Michigan erased a 16-point second-half deficit to beat Florida State 82-80 Friday in the island tournament. The win earned the Wolverines (4-1) a spot in Sundays championship game against Charlotte, which beat Northeastern 86-77 in the other semifinal. "I think we just didnt want to go home with another loss on our chest. We came together as a team," Michigan guard Derrick Walton Jr. said. "We stayed together the whole time and possession after possession we got stops and it paid off at the end." Walton Jr. added 15 points and Mitch McGary had 14 points and 12 rebounds in his third game back from a back injury. McGary logged 33 minutes and went just 6 for 15 from the field, but kept the Wolverines competitive inside against the much bigger Seminoles front line. "Tonight was a battle. I think we stuck together as a team and showed our core values tonight," McGary said. "Going in at halftime we were down 10 and we still had a positive attitude toward the game, we just knew we needed to get stops each possession. "Theres not a 10-point basket we could use to get back in the game. We just had to grind it out each possession and thats that we did," he said. FSU (4-1) had a chance to win the game in the final seconds, but a midcourt heave by Aaron Thomas bounced off the backboard. Ian Miller had 19 points to lead four Seminoles players in double figures, but he had just three after halftime. Okaro White added 18 points and Montay Brandon chipped in 14 in the Seminoles first loss of the season. Coach Leonard Hamilton said he thought Michigans change to a 1-3-1 zone defence disrupted not Miller, but the flow of his entire team. He also said that self-inflicted mistakes when players dribbled off their feet or stepped out of bounds late in the game were too much to overcome. "It made us tentative, we were not nearly as aggressive and then on the defensive end they did a very good job of attacking the basket and getting to the foul line," Hamilton said. "We tried to attack the basket and we couldnt get to the foul line ... they deserved this victory today." Michigan came out aggressive in overtime, with Stauskas scoring six of the Wolverines first eight points. He made one of two foul shots with 1:17 to play to put Michigan up 80-77. The Seminoles misfired on two possessions that could have tied it, and Walton made a pair of free throws to make it 82-77 with 14.8 seconds left. FSU wasnt finished, though. Miller broke a second half scoring drought with a 3-pointer that made it 82-80 with just 5 seconds remaining. After trailing by double figures for most of the second half, the Wolverines got a steal and 3-pointer by Spike Albrecht to cut the lead to 56-51 with 9:04 to play in regulation. Brandon scored six straight points for FSU to make it 63-54, before a basket by Stauskas got the Wolverines back within seven. Walton then got loose under the basket a few possessions later and was fouled as his layup dropped through to make it 64-58 with 3:52 remaining. He hit the free throw to complete the three-point play. The Wolverines kept scrapping and got a 3-pointer from Robinson to pull back within 67-63. Robinson then got a strip on defence and was fouled on the fast break. He hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead to just a basket. Two foul shots on the other end by Devon Bookert put FSU back up by four, but it went right back to 69-67 on a two free throws by Stauskas with less than a minute to play. FSU took the shot clock down, but Bookerts 3-pointer from the corner was long. Michigan coach John Beilein said his team will only get better, and expects McGary to continue to be a key cog in that development. "You could see it a couple of times he wasnt ready for the 33 minutes," He said. "Hes so far (away), his timing and all those things are so far off. But he gives us some energy and some rebounding that few people in the country have right now." Jean-Sebastien Giguere Jersey . Both teams were conference finalists a year ago, both clubs have an unmistakable identity that defines them, both play unselfish, defence-first basketball and in the last four days, both have reminded the Raptors how far they are from competing at their level. For Toronto, Fridays meeting with the still undefeated Pacers came to an unofficial end before most of the home teams fans could make it back to their seats. As good as the Raptors looked in the first half and as hard as they worked to look that good, Indiana reclaimed what was, as they knew it, rightfully theirs in less than three revealing minutes. "We knew they were going to come out and throw their best haymaker at us," Dwane Casey said, his team leading by as many as 12 in the first half and holding on to a two-point advantage at the break. Everyone knew they would, because thats what great teams do. Indiana opened the second half scoring 10 straight points, forcing three turnovers and holding Toronto to 0-of-4 shooting. Just like that, Torontos 24 minutes of (mostly) hard work was more than erased and the game was over. You could see it on the faces of players sitting on both benches as Casey was forced to call a quick third-quarter timeout to regroup. The Pacers had been in this position before, more than you would guess though six games this season. There was no panic, there was no time for sulking. They knew they had it. The Raptors body language spoke louder than words. They knew it was only a matter of time now. "[There are] no moral victories in this one," Kyle Lowry stated and Rudy Gay echoed minutes later. "We lost." The Pacers matched a franchise record - previously set in 1970-71 as an ABA team - winning six straight to begin a season. They havent allowed a team to score more than 91 points or shoot over 40 per cent. They havent scored 100 points, but they havent needed to. "I dont know if the history of [it] is as [important] as the fact that we have to lead on our goal," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said before the game. "And our goal is the number one seed. Were off to a good start and we all understand the importance of each game when our goal is so high." Theyve trailed at halftime in five of their six games, but it hasnt mattered. When youre a team as good as the Pacers, you can afford to bide your time. The Raptors learned that from the Heat on Monday when the defending champs started Torontos losing streak. The Pacers sent them home with that same effortless spanking, extending the Raptors skid to three and reminding them why Wednesdays disappointing loss to the Bobcats was so disappointing. They need to take advantage of winnable games because in this league, if youre a middling team, theyre few and far between. "There are no moral victories," Gay repeated. "We want to get this next one, thats it. We have to get this next one. The more we put ourselves in a hole, the more important the next game is and the next game is pretty important for us." The Raptors host the winless Utah Jazz in the second night of a back-to-back on Saturday. Its not a game they can afford to lose. George vs. Gay The match-up at small forward was a fun one in Indiana Friday night. Gay and the Pacers rising superstar Paul George combined for 53 points, 30 per cent of the total offence in the gaame.Custom Anaheim Ducks Jersey. Gay - who came into the game struggling, shooting just 34 per cent - was red-hot out of the gate. The Raptors leading scorer looked like the player of old, scoring 14 of his teams 32 first-quarter points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. He would go on to shoot just 3-of-13 in the second half, finishing the evening with an even 30 points but needing 26 shots to get there. "You can talk about Paul George, but I thought Rudy outplayed him," Casey said. "They won the game, but talking about individual matchups, Rudy played the game hes supposed to play." George was outscored by his counterpart, pouring in 23 on the night, but hardly outplayed with 17 of his points coming in the third quarter when his team needed him the most and the game was ultimately decided. The Pacers all-star forward, who came into the game fifth in scoring, has had at least 21 points in each of his teams six contests. A gifted two-way player, hes every bit the superstar he was paid to be this summer. As George stepped to the line with 11 seconds remaining, he was greeted by a chorus of MVP chants. Although anointing an MVP six games into the season is as silly as it sounds, hes playing at that level and thats the direction the 23-year-old is headed. Hes that good. Learning from the best The Raptors coaching staff, like most teams with young and impressionable big men, have been using the Pacers Roy Hibbert as a model for the 21-year-old Valanciunas. Offensively, the Raptors sophomore centre continues to make strides but, as head coach Casey reminds us, he still has a ways to go on the defensive end. The team hopes he will one day become the anchor that Indianas all-star big man has grown into on both ends of the floor. "He does such a good job of getting deep post position," Casey said of Hibbert, who scored 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting. "Where he got JV last year was reposting, kicking it out and reposting up so on that second one, if you relax at all, all you can do is pray." One technique Torontos staff continues to preach with Valanciunas is something Hibbert has perfected in his sixth NBA season. To stay out of foul trouble and contest shots in the lane, the Raptors want Valanciunas to go straight up, remaining vertical without bringing his arms down in the process. "We give him the respect of calling it the Hibbert play," Casey said of the technique. "Hes one of the best in the league at doing that and thats where JV is getting much better." "Im trying to be like him with that skill," Valanciunas noted. But its not something Hibbert - the leagues early-season shot block leader - picked up overnight, one of the reasons Casey preaches patience with the development of his young centre. "It takes a lot of time," Pacers coach Frank Vogel acknowledged. "Its one of the things I think most of the big men in the NBA are working to achieve now. I think thats the way that Roy has set the model for how its done." Friday was one of those nights that Casey calls a "learning experience" for Valanciunas. One of his roughest of the young season, Valanciunas scored just four points in 24 minutes, committing five fouls and two turnovers. He was out-muscled by Hibbert, beat off the dribble by quicker players, exposed on switches and missed defensive assignments. The Pacers star big man is a good example of what Valanciunas can grow into but he also serves as a reminder that it takes time. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap Soccer Jerseys ' ' '

Zach Boychuk had the lone tally for the Checkers, who dropped their sixth straight game to fall to 5-9-1. Marlies goalie Drew MacIntyre was sharp making 27 saves for the victory, while Checkers netminder John Muse stopped 27 of 30 shots. It was the Marlies first home game since Oct. 26. Toronto went 2-3-1 on a six-game trip while the annual Royal Agricultural Winter Fair took up residence in Ricoh Coliseum for the first two weeks of November. The Dallas Stars forward missed a game last week with a recurrence of the problem. His biggest scare came Monday night when he collapsed on the bench early in a game against Columbus and was rushed through a tunnel and stabilized. The 31-year-old Peverley ended up in good condition at a Dallas hospital, but the episode shook his teammates and led to the games postponement with the Blue Jackets leading 1-0 in the first period. "When he dropped, it was red alert," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. "Dont worry about the game. It was about getting the doctors. The players dont want to play, and I dont want to coach the team right now." After Peverley collapsed, Dallas players were pounding their sticks on the boards to try to get the attention of officials. When that didnt work, they started jumping off the bench onto the ice with the game going on. After the game stopped and the chaotic scene played out, the Stars stood in stunned silence, clearly in distress, unsure what had happened to a player they knew had a history of heart problems. "I was scared," Ruff said. Stars forward Erik Cole tried to rush into the tunnel just after Peverley was carried through, only to be turned away. He then gnawed at the thumb on one of his gloves while he waited for word on what the players would do next. Sergei Gonchar stared blankly near fellow defenceman Trevor Daley, who was hunched over on the bench, wiping his face with a towel. Play was halted at 6:23, and the postponement was announced about 30 minutes later. Dr. Gil Salazar of UT Southwestern Hospitals said Peverley was treated "successfully" for a cardiac event at American Airlines Center. "We provided oxygen for him," Salazar said. "We started an IV. We did chest compressions on him and defibrillated him, provided some electricity to bring a rhythm back to his heart, and that was successful with one attempt, which is very reassuring. "As soon as we treated him, he regained consciousness. He was able to tell me where he was." Many in the hushed crowd lingered long after the postponement was announced "as a result of the emotional state of the players on both teams caused by the medical emergency." The NHL didnt say when the game would be rescheduledd. Cristian Bonilla Colombia Jersey. Peverleys wife, Nathalie, accompanied him to a hospital, and the Stars essentially told the Blue Jackets they werent up for finishing the game. "Theyre shaken and they want to reschedule. We understand that," John Davidson, the Blue Jackets president of hockey operations, told Fox Sports Ohio. "They were shaken to the core." Peverley missed the preseason and the season opener after the procedure during training camp. He made his Stars debut on Oct. 5 against Washington. "We monitor him closely for a different type of arrhythmia he has," Salazar said. "He does have a pre-existing condition, and the condition -- a normal quivering of the heart that does not allow him to send blood to places where he needs to, in his brain and heart." Peverley sat out last weeks game at Columbus and couldnt fly because he felt strange. But he played in Dallas next two games before Monday. "There wasnt any concern," Ruff said. "Our doctors have done a fabulous job monitoring the situation." In 62 games this season before Monday, Peverley had seven goals and 23 assists. He was acquired last July from Boston with forward Tyler Seguin and defenceman Ryan Button for forwards Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser, and defenceman Joe Morrow. "The first thing (Peverley) asked me was how much time was left in the first period," Ruff said. The Stars went to the airport after the postponement, and even had a scheduled departure for St. Louis that was earlier than it would have been if the game was played. Dallas is scheduled to play the Blues on Tuesday night. "Hes going to be OK," Ruff said. "The care hes getting and the care going forward is the most important thing." On Tuesday, Stars general manager Jim Nill released an updated statement on Peverleys condition. "Rich Peverley is resting comfortably and being monitored at UT Southwestern St. Paul. He is currently undergoing testing to discover what triggered the cardiac event last night. The focus of all the testing and monitoring is being dedicated to finding the cause of the event and a long-term solution to rectify the problem. We do not have any more specifics at the moment.  Rich has been communicating with his teammates and friends. He is extremely grateful for all of the prayers and support that hes received from fans and friends alike." Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap Soccer Jerseys ' ' '

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. Custom Orlando Magic Jersey . -- Von Miller is back -- and bigger than ever. His coach and his teammates said Denvers All-Pro linebacker looked great Wednesday in his first practice since serving his six-game drug abuse suspension -- all 270 pounds of him. Thats how much Miller said he weighed in at this week, a good 24 pounds heavier than when he won Defensive Rookie of the Year honours in 2011. Miller has long wanted to gain weight because he figures it will help him overpower offensive linemen. Six weeks of watching games on his TV gave him that chance, although by all accounts he was far from a couch potato during his banishment for violating the leagues drug-abuse policy. Miller said he had no trouble with the extra muscle or the altitude because he served his suspension working with the Broncos trainers, a nutritionist and a personal pass rush specialist so that his cardiovascular conditioning wouldnt be an issue upon his return. "I feel good. Im in the best shape of my life," Miller said. "I feel a lot stronger, quicker, faster. Its not like Im running 100 yards or 400 yards there, so I definitely felt good. All the feedback I was getting from my teammates and everybody looked like I was good. There was a hurry-up period in there that was tough, but thats what its designed to be is tough." Coach John Fox said Miller "had an outstanding practice. Obviously hes got fresh legs and ready to roll and excited about the opportunity this week." Safety Rahim Moore said, "Im quite sure he misses the game a lot but he hasnt missed a step. He had a great practice today. He looked good. Im looking forward to watching him play." The Broncos may have gone 6-0 in Millers absence, but they sorely missed him disrupting quarterbacks -- theyre ranked dead last in the league in pass defence. "Hes going to make a huge difference," cornerback Chris Harris said. "Teams have just been coming out and saying, Its going to be seven on seven, were just going to throw the ball. If they come out and do that now, we have our rusher now to where they cant just sit back and pass the ball all day like that." Miller was clearly relieved to return to practice and answer questions about football after months of stories about his suspension and about traffic tickets. "I feel stronger just all around, mentally, physically, all around," Miller said. "When you dont have to worry about nothing, its just football, its a whole lot easier. Ive been studying and everything. I just feel good. Ive said it before. Im in a great place physically and mentally." Miller said hes been "paying attention in meetings, even more so than I would do normally. But I was ready to go. I wanted to make sure when I came back that I wasnt a step behind. If anything, Ive been conditioning and working out and doing everything possible to get myself ready for practice and the games." Miller also spent a week during his suspension working with renowned pass-rush specialist Chuck Smith, a former defensive end with the Atlanta Falcons. "Definitely working with a guy that focuses on pass rush, especially for me while I had all this time off to focus on that, it was instrumental," Miller said. "He didnt try to change me; he just helped me." The Broncos also welcomed back middle linebacker Wesley Woodyard (shoulder stringer) and defensive end Robert Ayers (shoulder) back to practice after both missed a week. Miller, who had 30 sacks in his first two seasons, including a franchise-record 18 1/2 last season, makes his debut Sunday against the Colts (4-2) in Peyton Mannings return to Indianapolis. Charles Barkley Team USA Jersey .ca look back at each of the Top 10 stories of 2013. He recorded eight special-teams tackles and scored his first CFL touchdown on July 20 at home against Montreal. He also played in the Western Final. "Tim is a hard-working player who has been a great asset to us on special teams since joining us three years ago and who has done a great job of making the transition to fullback," said head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. In six CFL seasons, he has registered 51 special-teams tackles, 14 defensive tackles and two catches for 14 yards and a touchdown. "Re-signing was a pretty easy decision, especially since everyone seems to be on the same page and so many players have already signed contracts to come back," said St. Pierre, a 27-year-old native of Hamilton, Ont. SAN JOSE, Calif. Buy Saucony Shoes Online . -- With San Joses stars struggling to score goals of late, the Sharks needed to get some production from some of their lower-profile players. Tommy Wingels scored with 3:08 remaining in overtime to lead the Sharks to their second win in six games, 2-1 over the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night. "Im a big part of the group that the scorings kind of vanished from," Wingels said. "I got one tonight, but the numbers in the past games still arent where they need to be. Its something were working on, the group of guys that need to pick it up. We will. Were confident players and well get there." Marty Havlat scored in regulation and set up the game-winner in overtime to give the struggling Sharks a much-needed boost with just one game left before the Olympic break. Wingels had scored just one goal in the previous 23 games, while Havlat had one in the past 13 as the Sharks were held to 11 goals in the past seven games. "It was time for some others to step up and score," coach Todd McLellan said. "To see Marty and Tommy both do it in one game is a good thing for our team." Backup goalie Alex Stalock made 19 saves to improve to 8-3-0 with a 1.61 goals against average in 11 starts. Valeri Nichushkin tied the game early in the third for the Stars, who came up short in their attempt to sweep a three-game road trip and move into playoff position in the Western Conference. Dallas trails Vancouver by two points in the race for the final playoff spot. Kari Lehtonen made 19 saves. The Stars have closed ground on the Canucks by winning five of their previous seven games, allowing nine goals and posting three shutouts in that span. They were at their best defensively in the third period when they held the Sharks to two shots, including none in the first 14-plus minutes but ended up on the short side in overtime. "We were lucky to get a point out of it," centre Vernon Fiddler said. "It would have been nice to get two, but they made a play and we didnt." Havlat made a neat backhand pass from the side of the net to Wingels, who knocked it in for his 11th goal and first career overtime goal. The Stars have now lost six of seven games decided in overtime this season. "Its an area we have to improve in," coach Lindy Ruff said. "Thats not good enough. We lost coverage on the goal and they made us pay for it." The Stars tied the game early in the third as they capitalized on some sustained pressure in the offensive zone. Trevor Daley fed the puck to Nichushkin, who was all alone in the slot for a one-timer that beat Stalock. The Sharks had taken the lead late in the second period when Havlat deftly redirected a point shot from Scott Hannan past Lehtonen for his fourth goal this season. McLellan looked for a spark for his struggling team, which had scored just five goals in the previous five games. He moved Patrick Marleau to a line with Joe Thornton and Brent Burns, while using Joe Pavelski as the centre between Wingels and Matt Nieto. It failed to pay early dividends as the Sharks were held scoreless in the first period for the seventh time in the past eight games. Stalock made sure they didnt end the period with a deficit when he made a scintillating glove save to rob Jamie Benn late in the period. "It was kind of a desperation save where I had to make a big save," Stalock said. "Those are saves it would be nice to maybe look a little simpler. Its something to work on." NOTES: McLellan tied Darryl Sutter for most games coached in franchise history with 434. ... Hannan had two assists for his first two-point game since Nov. 19, 2010, for Colorado against the Rangers. ... The Stars fell to 3-4-0 on the second night of back-to-back games. ... Brendon Kay hobbled around on a bad ankle and matched him in the fourth-quarter cold. It went down to overtime for the second year in a row. Some ending for this Ohio River rivalry. Bridgewater rallied No. 19 Louisville in the fourth quarter, and Dominique Brown ran 2 yards for a touchdown in the first overtime Thursday night for a 31-24 victory over Cincinnati in the Cardinals farewell to the American Athletic Conference. "I told my mom that I wanted to cry, but tears of joy," Bridgewater said. "Im so proud of this team. We have a lot of heart. "Coach tells us all the time to ride the wave. We rode it. Then Cincinnati rode it for a while, but we knew we would ride it again and we did." The comeback clinched the first AAC title for Central Florida, which had a one-game lead over Cincinnati (9-3, 6-2) heading into the final weekend. Louisville will play in the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando, Fla. "It was great to see this team finish the way they finished," coach Charlie Strong said. "You talk about a team with a lot of resiliency and a lot of heart. There were high expectations this season." For the second year in a row, the Ohio River rivals went to overtime to decide who gets the Keg of Nails, this time for the foreseeable future with Louisville (11-7, 7-1) leaving for the Atlantic Coast Conference next season. The Cardinals won 34-31 in overtime in the rain in Louisville last season. This one went to overtime on a wet, raw night when Cincinnatis Tony Miliano kicked a 26-yard field goal with 7 seconds left. An interference penalty in the end zone set up Browns 2-yard run to open overtime. The Bearcats got the ball and wound up with a fourth-and-14 at the 29, and Kays pass went off the hands of Anthony McClung at the 6, ending Cincinnatis first overtime game at Nippert Stadium since 2003. The Bearcats could be headed to the Belk Bowl. Bridgewater was 23 of 37 for 255 yards with three touchdowns, two of them in the fourth quarter. He eluded three tacklers for a 14-yard run on fourth-and-12 to keep one touchdown drive going, and finished it by scrambling away from defenders and throwing an off-balance pass for a 22-yard score. "Were athletic at defensive end, andd we were grabbing air a lot of times," Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville said. Saucony Shadow 5000 Mint Green. "We had him in our grasp. That fourth-down run, that was obviously the one that took the air out of our defence." He and Kay kept topping each other in the fourth quarter, but Cincinnatis sixth-year senior didnt have one more big play left in him. He was 22 of 40 for 304 yards with two interceptions and two touchdown scrambles, one of which left him woozy. For Louisville, the game amounted to a farewell. The Cardinals head off to the ACC next season, leaving Cincinnati behind. Louisville claimed the final Big East football title last season, beat Florida in the Sugar Bowl and was favoured to win the first AAC championship. A loss at home to Central Florida ended the Cardinals chances of winning the leagues BCS bowl berth. Cincinnatis slim hopes were extinguished by the loss Thursday. Both defences rank in the Top 10 nationally for fewest points and yards allowed. They dug in a cold rain that made it tougher to throw and catch the ball, until the two quarterbacks lit it up in the fourth quarter. Bridgewater rallied Louisville with two sensational plays. He slipped away from three tackles for his 14-yard run on fourth-and-12, then ran around in the backfield avoiding rushers before throwing a 22-yard touchdown pass to Damian Copeland with 8:08 left, ending up on his back after the off-balance throw. "The plays Teddy made in that fourth quarter," Strong said with admiration. "I thought he was sacked. Then he breaks free and gets the ball to Damian Copeland." Kay responded with a 57-yard completion that set up Ralph David Abernathy IVs touchdown run, and Bridgewater matched it with a 4-yard touchdown pass to DeVante Parker and a 24-21 lead with 2:26 to go -- just enough time for Kay to lead the Bearcats in range for a tying field goal. Kay hurt his left ankle on the opening drive of the second half and played the rest of the game with a pronounced limp. He went for an MRI after the game. He also got dazed on his second touchdown run, getting hit hard by two defenders as he crossed the goal line in the third quarter. "Thats how tough the kid is," Tuberville said. "You cant say enough about him. Im proud he was my quarterback for the last nine games." Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap Soccer Jerseys ' ' '

CHESTER, Pa. Ignacio Maganto Los Angeles Galaxy Jersey . -- The Montreal Impact tightened up defensively on Saturday, but had to rein in their offence to get it done. Montreal couldnt match last-weeks five goal performance, instead settling for a 0-0 draw against the Philadelphia Union to snap a three-game losing streak in Major League Soccer. "I think if you look back at our last five games on the road, weve given up goals," said assistant coach Mauro Biello, manning the sidelines in place of the suspended Marco Schallibaum. "Three goals, four goals, we wanted to make it a point to play well defensively. On the road its not easy to win, and if were able to shut a team down on the road, I think its a good sign." The Impact (12-7-6) improved to 42 points, and now sits in a three-way tie for first in MLSs Eastern Conference with the New York Red Bulls and Sporting Kansas City. The two American clubs caught up to Montreal as New York beat D.C. United 2-1 and Kansas City edged the Colorado Rapids 2-1. The Impact, however, have two games in hand heading into September. "We would like to create separation, but we know how hard it is," Biello said. "Every game is difficult. Theyre a team, fighting like us and trying to get into the playoffs. They did a good job tonight and didnt give us much. Defensively they shut down Marco and Felipe and they didnt get much room. Its a playoff type game, where no one really wants to give up much and try to accumulate the points where you can." Slow to start, Montreal could only muster one first half shot on goal. Pouncing on a Philadelphia turnover, Justin Mapps 24th minute shot was knocked down by Zac MacMath into the path of an onrushing Marco Di Vaio. But the Impacts star striker missed his shot wide and was ruled offside on the play. Troy Perkins made a key save for Montreal to keep the game scoreless at the half. Latching onto a low cross, Sebastien Le Touxs one-time effort was parried away by the sprawling Impact goalkeeper. Jack McInerneys follow-up effort went wide of the near post. "The last five or six road games have been really hectic, really crazy," Perkins said. "We had a bit of a calmness to us, and it showed. We didnt give up too many chances, and we didnt create many either, but I think defensively we were solid tonight and its a great building block for us to move forward." Perkins came up big again in the 57th minute, denying a fierce McInerney strike from 25 yards . The Impact backline was able to clear after the ball bounced around dangerously inside the penalty area. Di Vaio looked to have scored his 16th goal of the year in the 61st minute after a nifty bit of interchanging play. Freeing himself inside the left channel, his curling effort beat MacMath but was called back for another offside flag. Philadelphia came closest in the 77th, when Fabinho crossed superbly for an unmarked McInerney inside the six-yard box. But the snake-bitten Union striker couldnt make contact and the ball sailed past a frozen Impact backline. "Its a good result for us away," said Montreal captain Patrice Bernier. "We were okay. It wasnt a great game for us but we defended well. They had one or two solid chances, we had one or two also, so it was a fair enough game. They had most of the control, maybe we had heavy legs, but we managed to come out with the result and we wanted to come up with points on the road. Lately we havent been coming home with any points, so at this time of the year one point is good for us, and a blank sheet at the same time." The result gave the Impact its first road point going all the way back to a 3-3 draw against Toronto on July 3rd. Schallibaums team had been outscored 9 to 2 in three road losses since that game. Bradford Jamieson Jersey .ca! Hi Kerry, Heres an interesting one. Robinson and Jordan Hamilton each hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start the fourth quarter, helping the Denver Nuggets pull away for a 97-87 victory against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night. "Ive been battling little injuries, and been in a little slump, not wanting to take the shots I usually take just because I didnt want to miss them and hurt my team," said Robinson, who scored 10 of his 11 points in the fourth quarter. "But I got to the stage where Im like, Forget it. Just play and be you," he said. "Im no longer going to worry about missing shots. Im just going to shoot when Im open and play aggressive, get my teammates involved and play as hard as I can for as long as I can and enjoy the minutes that I get." Hamilton finished with 17 points to lead the Nuggets, who won their seventh straight against the Bulls at the Pepsi Center. J.J. Hickson had 14 points, Kenneth Faried had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Randy Foye also scored 12 points. Derrick Rose had 19 points for the Bulls, who snapped a five-game winning streak. Robinson, who spent last season with the Bulls, started a 12-0 burst when he hit successive 3s opening the final period. Hamilton matched him by making 3s on consecutive possessions, and the Nuggets lead ballooned to 82-62 with 9:40 left. "Hes a sparkplug, man," teammate Ty Lawson said. "Nate is never down and out, so if he misses through three quarters, hes going to come through in the fourrth quarter. Rafael Garcia Jersey. Thats what he did for us." Chicago managed to pull to 94-83, but Robinson responded by hitting a 12-foot bank shot to help quash the Bulls late momentum. "You cant let your guard down against them," Chicago coach Tom Thibodeau said. "I thought their bench hurt us. Hamilton had a big game for them, Nate had the two big shots to start the fourth, (Timofey) Mozgov hurt us in the paint. Lawson puts a lot of pressure on you, and (Wilson) Chandler puts a lot of pressure on you. Youve got to use your team to slow them down. "Our turnovers hurt us," Thibodeau added, "but the big thing is we gave them easy scoring opportunities. We should have been able to count on our defence. Ninety-seven points, 46 per cent (shooting), its too much." Darrell Arthur hit a baseline jumper to give the Nuggets a 69-60 lead with 1:09 left in the third, matching their biggest lead of the night. Denver was in front 70-62 going into the final period. The Bulls outscored the Nuggets 8-2 in the last two minutes of the second quarter, pulling to 50-48 at halftime. Chicago hit the offensive boards in the surge, getting tip-ins from Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng and Joakim Noah during the sequence. While many contenders sat out, Miller sped down the shortened Rosa Khutor downhill course in one minute, 56.42 seconds. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde of Norway finished second in Tuesdays training, 0.66 seconds behind, and Paul De La Cuesta of Spain was third, 0.82 behind. Contenders Alexis Pinturault of France and Ted Ligety of the United States were fifth and 15th, respectively. Morgan Pridy of Whistler, B.C., was 11th with a time of 1:59.26. The Phoenix Coyotes defenceman was thrust into action only a day after being called up from the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League. The 20-year-old was so new that he still had a Pirates shaving kit bag in his locker room stall. Murphys first career NHL goal was one of six for the Coyotes in a 6-3 win over the Eastern Conference-leading Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday night. It was the Lightnings first loss in eight games against Western Conference teams this season. "I got a lot of great advice from teammates and coaches here coming into the game," said Murphy, whose parents were in attendance on short notice. "Just trying to take that and roll with it and have fun and contribute." Murphy, who scored in the second period, was napping when he got the call to Arizona. Its something he does before games. "Just to get a morning skate in, it felt like a normal game day," he said. "I got lucky it (his goal) went through (into the net). I think I almost broke my hand punching the ice, I was so excited." Martin Hanzal had a goal and three assists and Lauri Korpikoski had a goal and two assists for the Coyotes in the win. Michael Stone, Mike Ribeiro and Shane Doan also scored for Phoenix. Radim Vrbata had three assists. Richard Panik, J.T. Brown and Alex Killorn scored for the Lightning. "I thought everyone contributed tonight and obviously everyone was happy for Connor Murphy for getting his first goal," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "Hes such a nice kid, a great kid, so it was a great thrill for him." The Coyotes went 2 for 3 on the power play. Ribeiro cleaned up a loose puck in front of Ben Bishop during a two-man advantage at 1 minute, 48 seconds of the second period to give Phoenix a 3-0 lead. The goal ended Bishops evening, and Anders Lindback came on to replace him. Bishop had been undefeated in his previous six games this month with a 1.30 goals-against average. He stopped 11 of 14 shots. Bishop later said he was hit by a puck. Lightning coach Jon Cooper said after the game that Bishop was fine. "Theyre not always going to be good nights, and tonight wasnt good," Bishop said. The Lightning ralllied, cutting the Coyotes lead to 3-1 on Paniks goal at the 16:19 mark, starting a flurry of goals before the second intermission.Mamadou Sakho Jersey. . Panik slotted home a nifty backhand pass from teammate Tyler Johnson for the finish. Murphy netted his goal less than a minute later. Murphys shot went in with Hanzal making it tough for Lindback to see the puck in front of the goal to make the score 4-1. Brown scored his first goal of the season 50 seconds later to make it 4-2. "Every time we thought we were seizing a little bit of momentum ... we rebound to make it 3-1, then they score on the next shift," Cooper said. "Thats unacceptable." Phoenix came up with the first goal of the third period, Doan scoring after Vrbata dug the puck off the boards behind the goal and passed it back. Doans goal was his 10th of the season. Killorn scored for Tampa Bay to make it 5-3 at 18:58 of the third and Korpikoski added an empty-net goal for Phoenix. The Coyotes got off to a good start with a pair of first-period goals. During their first power play, a wrist shot got past Bishop at 15:58 of the period. Ribeiro got the assist with a long pass out to the point from the right wing. It was Stones third goal in two games and his sixth of the season. Phoenix made it 2-0 less than a minute later. With both teams at full strength, Hanzal centred from the left corner. The puck hit Bishop in the back of a skate and trickled into the net with 3:05 to go in the period. "Its what happens sometimes, especially with me," Hanzal said. "Sometimes it hits you in the face, or in the leg, and thats what happened. So well take the two points." The Lightning missed a good chance to take an early lead when the Coyotes David Schlemko lost the puck and Johnson skated down the ice with it on a breakaway. Johnson stumbled and his shot went wide, and he tumbled into the Phoenix net. Phoenix improved to 9-0-1 at home this season. NOTES: Schlemko left the game after the second period, aggravating a previous lower-body injury, Tippett said. ... D Rostislav Klesla and D Zbynek Michalek did not play for the Coyotes. The Montreal Canadiens will be facing some major adversity over the next little while, as the amount of players out with injuries keeps piling up. Saucony Shadow Original Blue . The latest name added to the growing list is Brandon Prust, who is out four weeks with a right shoulder injury. The positive thing that comes when dealing with injuries is that it now opens the door to new players to prove themselves and that is exactly what Patrick Holland is hoping to do. Holland, along with Michael Blunden, were recalled from Hamilton and joined the group at practice today. Tomorrow night, Holland will make his regular season NHL debut against the Edmonton Oilers.   "Growing up I wanted to be Jerry Seinfeld, but becoming a professional hockey player is a pretty awesome alternative" Holland said with a big smile on his face. The 21-year-old forward from Lethbridge, Alberta has a great sense of humour, and made quite a few media members crack up with his one-liners today. He was drafted 193 overall in the 2010 by the Calgary Flames.  Holland joined the Canadiens as part of that unusual Mike Cammalleri trade which was made mid-game against the Boston Bruins in 2012. At that time, Holland, playing in the WHL for the Tri-City Americans, was in Vancouver as Tri-City was preparing to play the Vancouver Giants the following night. Oddly enough he just so happened to be watching the Habs-Bruins game in his hotel room. When he was on his way to the team dinner it was announced that Cammalleri was traded to the Calgary Flames, but did not say for who. "When I got to the restaurant my teammates and I were all talking about the trade and I joked that I was part of it. Maybe five or 10 minutes after I made that joke, my phone rang and I saw it was the Calgary Flames calling" he said. It was Jay Feaster, the general manager of the Flames, calling to tell him he had been traded to Montreal. Holland, who turned pro last season, has been enjoying his time with the Canadiens organization. "I feel very comfortable here, I know a lot of these guys from playing in Hamilton and from training camp a few weeks ago" Holland said on the eve of his NHL debut. Brendan Gallagher is one of those players he knows well. He lived with him, along with prospect Morgan Ellis, in Hamilton for the first half of the season last year.  Growing up, Holland was a fan of the Edmonton Oilers and his favorite player was Ales Hemsky. "It will be a very cool experience getting to play against him tomorrow" Holland said. Unfortunately, his parents will not be able to make it to Montreal for tomorrows game, but he will have his cousin, who attends Queens University in Kingston come to town to see him play. Saucony Grid 9000 Premium Grey . -- Running backs Darren McFadden and Rashad Jennings were back at practice for the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday despite being hampered by hamstring injuries. Saucony Shadow 5000 Og Suede Pack . 10 VCU 85-67 on Thursday night at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Nikita Kucherov scored the lone shootout goal and the Lightning beat the Ottawa Senators 4-3 on Thursday night. Kucherov beat Craig Anderson on the first shot during the shootout, while Lightning goalie Ben Bishop stopped all three shots he faced. Tyler Johnson, B.J. Crombeen and Ondrej Palat scored in regulation for the Lightning, who had lost each of their previous five home games (0-3-2) by one goal. Victor Hedman, who sat out a game with a leg injury, had three assists in his return. "We want to be up there in the top of the league," Hedman said. "We have to find ways to win." Tampa Bay moved into a first-place tie with Boston -- which has two games at hand -- in the Atlantic Division. Erik Karlsson, Clarke MacArthur and Chris Neil had the Ottawa goals. The Senators are 2-6 in shootouts this season. "Its a skills competition," Anderson said. "It should be reserved for All-Star games." Neil tied it at 3 from the right circle with 2:18 remaining in the third. It was his 100th NHL goal. "It was a while coming," said Neil, who has played in 824 NHL games. "Obviously, the way I play, just plugging around and sticking around, it is a milestone. Ive got the puck. It will go up in my basement." Tampa Bay went ahead 3-2 at 5:31 of the third when Martin St. Louis extended his point streak to nine games by sending a pass through the slot to Palat, who scored from just below the left circle. "You dont like to give up the extra point to somebody in our division, but I just want to make sure we get two," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. St. Louis (963) moved within two points oof tying Maurice Richard (965) for 85th on the NHL list. Saucony Shadow 6000 Cheap. Crombeens redirection put the Lightning up 2-1 at 3:30 of the second. MacArthur got the Senators even at 2 by putting an in-close power-play shot past Bishop with 3:03 left in the second. Ottawas power play, the NHLs top-ranked road unit, had mixed results in its second opportunity in the first period. After Johnson beat Anderson for a short-handed goal at 14:32, Karlsson tied it at 1 on his third goal and 23rd man-advantage point of the season 40 seconds later. The Senators are 29th in the home power-play rankings. "You tell me. Ive been trying to answer that question for 50 games," Ottawa coach Paul MacLean said. "Im not sure if its a comfort level or what it is, but weve got to keep working on it. We believe that if we continue to work at it, its going to get good everywhere." Anderson was coming off a 2-0 victory Tuesday at Washington, which was the Senators second straight road shutout. NOTES: Tampa Bay star Steven Stamkos, sidelined since breaking his right shin on Nov. 11, was OK after taking a spill during a drill at the teams morning skate. "I was kind of laughing," Stamkos said. "Its the first time Ive fallen in 10 weeks. Just knowing that everything was fine, you get right back up, I didnt feel anything whatsoever. So, thats nice." Stamkos, who hasnt ruled out playing in the Sochi Olympics next month, was scheduled to have X-rays Thursday night to see how the leg is progressing. ... SAN JOSE, Calif. Kevin Bieksa Ducks Jersey . - Even on a night when the play was hampered by choppy ice, the puck still seems to find Joe Pavelski and he keeps finding the net. Pavelski scored twice to move into a tie for the second most goals in the NHL this season and help the San Jose Sharks beat the Calgary Flames 3-2 Monday night. "It feels how you should play the game all the time, to be honest," Pavelski said. "Its the way you picture it. Ive just visualized this a few times, so it shouldnt be anything new." Pavelski scored on a deflection in the first period and on the power play in the second to give him five goals in his past two games and 18 in the past 20 to tie Anaheims Corey Perry with 27 on the season. Washingtons Alex Ovechkin leads the league with 35. "Its fun to watch," teammate Tommy Wingels said. "They go in a whole different variety of ways as you saw tonight. When youre hot, youre hot. Hell certainly take it and as a team well take it as well." Wingels also scored and Antti Niemi made 21 saves for the Sharks, who returned home from a perfect three-game road trip with a win over struggling Calgary to open a pre-Olympic stretch of eight games out of 10 at home. Jiri Hudler and Kevin Westgarth scored for the Flames, who have lost four straight games and 11 of 13. Karri Ramo made 24 saves. "Were disappointed in the loss, but you cant fault the effort," forward Matt Stajan said. "We had our chances. If we continue to work like that well give ourselves a chance no doubt about it." Pavelski followed up his first career hat trick on Saturday in Tampa Bay with his third multi-goal game in his past six as he thrives on a line with Joe Thornton and Brent Burns. Pavelski is four goals shy of matching his career high of 31 set two seasons ago. He broke a tie late in the second period after Stajan was sent off for interfering with Eriah Hayes on the only penalty of the game. After a broken play at the blue line, Jason Demers kept the puck in the offensive zone and passed to Thornton, who was all alone on the opposite side of the ice. Thornton fired a cross-ice pass to Pavelski, who was alone near the front of the net and deflected the pass past Ramo to give the Sharks a 3-2 lead. "The ice was just so bouncy tonight I just tried to get it in the general direction," Thornton said. "He just made a great play, just hand-eye co-ordination. Hes just playing great right now. The puck seems to hit him right now and go in." Both teams scored twice during the first period with help from shaky goaltending from Niemi and Ramo. The four goals came on 18 shots and included three in a span of 1:12 midway through the period. The Flames started the scoring when Hudler beat Brad Stuart in the corner and then beat Niemi with a backhand from in front of the net for his 13th goal. The Sharks responded with two goals in a 21-second span with Pavelski tipping Justin Brauns point shot for the first and Wingels beating Ramo with a bad angle shot from near the boards to snap a 15-game goalless stretch. Less than a minute later, Niemi allowed a big rebound in the slot on a shot by Brian McGrattan and Westgarth got to the rebound ahead of Matt Irwin for his first goal in 23 games this season. Westgarth was happy to contribute two days after he was part of the game-opening line brawl against Vancouver that led to coach Bob Hartley getting fined $25,000 earlier in the day. "I dont know what is being said about me and I dont care," Westgarth said. "I know the guys in this room respect me and thats all that matters. I figured something would be happening. You dont want to have a line brawl like that very often." This game had just one minor penalty compared to the 204 combined minutes of penalties between the Canucks and Flames on Saturday. BARCELONA, Spain -- Pedro Rodriguez scored three goals and Victor Valdes saved another penalty in Barcelonas 4-0 win at Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, keeping the defending Spanish league champions perfect through five rounds. Andrew Wolverton Los Angeles Galaxy Jersey . Pedro scored from a pass by Lionel Messi in the 33rd minute and added two more goals in the 47th and 72nd after Valdes saved his second penalty in four days following his stop in Wednesdays 4-0 over Ajax in the Champions League. The Spain forward has five goals this season, making him the leagues second-leading scorer along with Atletico Madrids Diego Costa behind Messi with six. Cesc Fabregas capped the rout in the 80th with Rayo searching for a consolation goal. "We knew the difficulties Vallecas Stadium presents, its a tough ground to win at," Pedro said after his first career hat trick for Barcelona. "They have a competitive team, but we were able to find the spaces we needed to score." Atletico also got its fifth win in as many rounds to lie level on points with Barcelona after a no-nonsense 2-0 victory at Valladolid. Atleticos defence limited Valladolid to one shot on goal while midfielder Raul Garcia and forward Diego Costa both scored goals set up by Jorge "Koke" Resurreccion in the second half. Moments after goalkeeper Diego Marino saved his header, Garcia scored in the 56th with a no-look header from Kokes cross that Marino could only watch float over him and into the net. Koke then lobbed a delicate through ball down the middle of the pitch for Diego Costa to seal the result in the 72nd. "It was a question of waiting for our moment," said Atletico coach Diego Simeone. "Valladolid played well in the first half. It didnt generate scoring chances, but nor did it let us play like we wanted. But we talked about it at halftime and my players had a great response." Barcelona and Atletico opened up an overnight five-point advantage over Real Madrid before it hosts Getafe on Sunday. Atletico visits Madrid next round in their first meeting since Atletico beat Madrid in the Copa del Rey final last season. Encouraged by its raucous fans, Rayo set a brutal pace from the start, and Valdes was called into action in the third minute to turn back Alberto Pereas header. "Valdes is having an exceptional run," said Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino. "Hes among the three best goalkeepers in Spain. Its my turn to enjoy having him as my player, even though you dont always want to see your goalkeeper having to make three or four decisive saves." Barcelona matched Rayos intense pressure and a ball stolen by Alex Song led to Barcelonas opener. Messi took the ball, drew in the hosts defence, and laid off for Pedro arriving down the right side to drive a low shot into the net. It was then Valdes turn to shine again this season, his last with the Catalan club which he seems determined to make his best. Rayo was poised to level in the 35th when Barcelona defender Adriano fouled midfielder Roberto Trashorras in the area, but Valdes stood firm and had little trouble parrying Trashorras spot kick. "In the first half our team was able to cause Barcelona problems," said Trashorras. "If I had scored that penalty, they would have had even more trouble. Having studied him I thought that Valdes was going to dive to one side, and I tried to shoot down the middle since he had gone to one side the other day. But he did well to wait." Pedro scored his second goal when he raced in to stab Fabregas cross home after the former Arsenal midfielder forced Rayo into losing the ball deep in its own half. As Rayos players tired while its fans continued to urge them forward, Neymar started and extended a flowing move by squaring for Pedro to tap in his third goal before Fabregas took the fourth. Also, Real Sociedads scoring drought reached three games when Malaga held the Basque club to 0-0 at home, while Levante rallied to 2-2 at 10-man Almeria. Sociedad, which lost its Champions League group opener on Tuesday, increased its winless run in the domestic competition to four rounds. Despite selling several players this summer, first-year coach Bernd Schuster has Malaga on a three-game unbeaten streak. The promoted Almeria remained winless through five rounds after squandering a second-half lead for the fourth time this season. ATLANTA -- The New Orleans Saints have won plenty of games with their dazzling offence. Tracy Mcgrady Magic Jersey . The defence is doing its part, too. Drew Brees threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first half and the guys on the other side made sure that was enough, sending the Saints to a 17-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night. "Were rolling and we cant stop," said Cameron Jordan, who led the way as New Orleans sacked Atlantas Matt Ryan five times. "Weve got to get better." Brees threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Graham and a 1-yarder to Benjamin Waton, giving the first-place Saints (9-2) a sweep of the season series with their NFC South rivals. Atlanta (2-9) dropped its fifth straight game, clinched its first losing season since 2007 and was officially eliminated from the division race with five weeks remaining. The Falcons had a chance to pull off the upset, driving to the Saints 29 with less than 3 minutes to go. But New Orleans turned up the pressure on Ryan, Atlanta missed a long field goal, and the Saints ran off all but the last 5 seconds. New Orleans also forced a crucial fumble early in the fourth quarter. Keyunta Dawson stripped the ball from Falcons rookie receiver Darius Johnson, and Corey White fell on it at the Saints 13. "We knew coming here was going to be a challenge," Saints coach Sean Payton said. "The two teams, the history, regardless of the record it has always been a close game, and tonight was no exception." The Georgia Dome rocked with chants of "Who Dat! Who Dat!" as the final seconds ticked off the clock, the Saints ensuring they will remain alone atop the NFC South and just one game behind Seattle for home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. New Orleans will face the Seahawks on Dec. 2 in what shapes up as one of the biggest games of the year. "The identity of the team is still developing," said Jordan, who was credited with 2 1/2 sacks. The Falcons had hoped to salvage a bit of pride in this lost season, driving from their own 9 -- actually, the 3 after Ryan was sacked -- to the Saints 29. But Ryan was sacked again by Jordan and hurried into a pair of incompletions. As the crowd groaned, the Falcons surprisingly sent on Matt Bryant to attempt a 52-yard field goal. He knocked one through, but the Saints called timeout just before the snap. His next try sailed wide of the left upright. Brees and the offence took it from there, assuring Atlanta had time for only one desperate play at the end. "We responded to momentum changes and some adversity in the football game," Falcons coach Mike Smith said. "But it was still not good enough. If you dont win, its not good enough." Brees was 23 of 33 for 278 yards. Ryan was 30 of 39 for 297 yards, but Atlantas offence produced only one touchdown -- the fourth time that has happened during its current skid. The Falcons, who had been outscored 135-61 over their previous four games, put together an impressive drive on their opening possession. Steven Jackson carried it five times for 24 yards, the last of them a dive into the end zone on third-and-goal at the Saints 1 to give Atlanta its first lead in nearly a month. The Falcons had gone nearly 15 quarters -- almost four full games -- since being up 3-0 over Arizona early in Week 8. The advantage didnt last long. Brees guided a 15-play, 78-yard drive in which the Saints converted five straight times on third down, including Watsons leaping catch in the back of the end zone. Bryant put the Falcons back ahead with the first of his two field goals, a 39-yarder early in the second quarter, but New Orleans grabbed the lead for good when Graham slipped behind the secondary and hauled in his long touchdown. He celebrated by dunking over the goalpost and hung on the crossbar for extra emphasis, and ended up bending the post. As the Saints lined up to attempt the extra point, the officials noticed the crooked uprights, leading to a brief delay as a worker came out with a ladder to straighten the bar. The Falcons got in position to recapture the lead, driving to the New Orleans 10. On third-and-goal, Ryan couldnt find an open receiver and took off running, briefly spotting a path to the end zone. But the Saints closed in quickly, prompting Ryan to slide down at the 6 rather than risk an injury. Some Atlanta fans booed as Matty Ice trotted off the field. Atlanta settled for another field goal from 24 yards and trailed 14-13 at the half. The Falcons got no closer. The only points of the second half came on Garrett Hartleys 41-yard field goal.
