Every Goldeyes player had a hit and the team scored seven runs in the second inning, as Winnipeg blasted the Sioux City Explorers 9-2 to take two of three games in the series and earn franchise win 100 over the Xs. The win pushes Winnipegs record to 20-18 on the season and moves the Goldeyes two games back of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks for first place in the American Associations North Division. Winnipeg still has two games in hand on Fargo. The Goldeyes did all their scoring early Thursday night. Leonard Davis hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning to begin the offensive onslaught for Winnipeg. The Goldeyes had gone five consecutive games without a home run. In the second inning for Winnipeg, Nate Samson had an RBI single, Mike Coles had a two RBI single, Jordan Guida scored on Nick Liles fielders choice, Davis doubled in Coles, and Luis Alen had a two-run single. Goldeyes starter Pete Gehle earned the win after throwing seven solid innings.
