PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks dormant offence broke out Tuesday night. A.J. Pollock doubled, tripled and drove in three runs, and Patrick Corbin scattered four hits over six innings to help the Diamondbacks beat the Chicago Cubs 10-4. "Its definitely good to get the offence going," Pollock said. "We know we have it. For whatever reason its kind of been lacking in the last week or so. Its good to bust out and show weve got it. Weve just got to relax." Corbin (12-1) allowed one run, struck out six and walked three for the Diamondbacks, who won for the second time in five games since the All-Star break to remain a half-game behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. "Patrick wasnt very sharp early, but hes just really good at battling through things," said Arizona manager Kirk Gibson. "Its only fitting he got the win." Eric Chavez also tripled and had three RBIs. Martin Prado homered and Paul Goldschmidt added a run-scoring double for Arizona, which reached 10 runs for the first time since June 21. In a matchup of All-Stars on the mound, Cubs lefty Travis Wood (6-7) started strong but faded late, giving up four runs on eight hits and a pair of walks in 5 2-3 innings. Wood also singled and scored the Cubs first run in the second. Cubs manager Dale Sveum was ejected by plate umpire Dana DeMuth for arguing balls and strikes after Cody Ransom was called out on strikes to end the top of the third. "I didnt like the way he handled it, staring at Cody and following him," Sveum said. "It was over with. No need to keep staring at my player and baiting him." Wood retired his first nine hitters but recorded only eight outs against the final 16 Diamondbacks he faced. Prado tied the game at 1 with a long home run into the left-field stands with one out in the fifth. Arizona tacked on three more in the sixth. Adam Eaton led off with a single and scored when Pollock lined a hit-and-run double just inside the left-field line to make it 2-1. Wood walked Goldschmidt and appeared on the verge of escaping further damage when Cody Ross grounded into a double play. But Chavez tripled just past the extended glove of a sprinting Junior Lake and off the left-field wall to drive in Pollock. Wil Nieves RBI single gave Arizona a 4-1 lead. "The first five (innings) looked pretty good," Wood said. "Unfortunately they kind of figured me out and were able to throw up three more." Chavez added a two-run, two-out single and Prado had an RBI single in the seventh off Hector Rondon to give the Diamondbacks a 7-1 cushion. "Its contagious," Chavez said. "When things are going bad, you just have to turn it around the other way. But tonight dont mean nothing if we dont come back and back it up tomorrow." Nate Schierholtz came off the bench in the eighth to hit a two-run homer into the swimming pool area behind the right-centre fence off David Hernandez for his third career pinch-hit homer. That pulled Chicago to 7-3. Arizona put together its third straight three-run inning in the eighth on a two-run triple by Pollock and an RBI double by Goldschmidt, who had been intentionally walked the inning before. Lake homered with one out in the ninth for the Cubs, his third hit of the game. NOTES: Arizona is 18-2 when Corbin starts. ... The Diamondbacks had totalled eight runs in their previous four games since the All-Star break. ... Corbin and Wood were the ninth set of All-Star pitchers since 2000 to face each other in their first start after the break. ... Lake finished 3 for 5 and is 12 for 22 with two homers, a double and four RBIs since he was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Friday. ... Sveum has been ejected four times this season, including two of the Cubs five games against the Diamondbacks. ... RHP Jeff Samardzija (6-9) will renew his personal rivalry with the Diamondbacks against RHP Ian Kennedy (3-7) on Wednesday. Samardzija found himself in a shouting match with Arizona third base coach Matt Williams in June after nearly hitting Kennedy a couple of times with pitches. Gibson had some harsh words for Samardzija, too.

Authentic Dwyane Wade Bulls Jersey. This should be celebrated because it will not always be this way. With the amount of money given to players by their clubs these days, it is a wonder that so many of those teams allow the sport to continue to take away many of their assets so they can play for a different team in the middle of their season.

The Gunners have seen their quest for silverware suffer a huge blow this week, following consecutive FA Cup and Champions League defeats to Watford and Barcelona.A first Premier League title in 12 seasons is the only trophy available to Arsene Wengers side, although they find themselves 11 points behind leaders Leicester with just nine games to play. And Petit, who has also called for Wenger to step away from the dugout in favour of an advisory position at the Emirates, believes an over-reliance on youth is to blame for the north London clubs failure to win titles consistently in recent years.Arsenals academy policy is very good, up until a certain point - there is a limit, Petit told Sky Sports. There are a lot of players coming from the academy who are good but they have failed to improve over the last three or four years. Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain criticised by former Gunner Emmanuel Petit This has been a big disappointment for me. Players like Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere are constantly injured and they are not improving. They are good, but not that good, that is why they need something else in the dressing room. Could Arsenal make a move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic? Well Arsene Wenger says hes focusing on the end of the season before thinking about signing players Asked what Arsenal were lacking, Petit added: If you want to exceed this limit [of the academy], you have to bring in experienced players - big names, big characters, players with winning mentality.ddddddddddddThey need to bring leaders into this team. They have quality, no doubt, they have big players but not enough. They need leaders, big characters and players that hate to be beaten and love to win - not only games but titles. With Arsenal burdened by the costs of building the Emirates Stadium over the past decade, the club have arguably been forced to build their academy rather than pursuing big-money signings. However, the acquisition of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in recent seasons, coupled with reports the club have £175m in cash reserves, may suggest a turn in the tide at Arsenal, and Petit wants them to continue spending. Young players have failed to improve at Arsenal, according to Petit There are only two options for Arsenal, Petit added. Either they keep on doing what theyre doing, adding experienced players to the youth coming through, or they use the money they have.In the last few years we have seen Arsenal performing well on the pitch but not winning titles, with the exception two FA Cups. They fail at the final step every time, at this crucial time of the season. That means they need something to improve the closing stages of the season. That, for me, would be spending the money.Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all spending money on top players to improve their team and results.Catch the full interview with Emmanuel Petit live on Soccer Saturday, 12pm, Sky Sports 1 HD Also See: Henry on Arsenal title hopes Wenger plays down Ibra link Everton v Arsenal preview Mersons predictions
