LONDON -- New Zealand is one victory away from going through 2013 unbeaten after surviving a valiant fightback by England to win 30-22 at Twickenham on Saturday, erasing the pain of last years stunning loss in the same fixture.

England overturned a 17-3 deficit after 17 minutes to take a 22-20 lead on the hour, but winger Julian Saveas second try of the match -- from a remarkable offload by Maa Nonu -- allowed New Zealand to recover for a 13th straight victory this year. The All Blacks head to Ireland next week looking to become the first team since South Africa in 1995 to finish a calendar year with a 100 per cent record. "We have given ourselves a chance, havent we?" New Zealand captain Richie McCaw said. "It would be pretty nice over December to sit back and reflect on that, but it isnt just going to happen by itself." Driven by memories of their 38-21 loss here 12 months ago, the All Blacks made a flying start through early tries by Savea and impressive No. 8 Kieran Read. But they lost No. 10 Dan Carter, who won his 100th international cap, to a right Achilles injury in the 26th minute and were soon worn down by the intensity of Englands dominant pack. Joe Launchbury crossed for Englands only try and flyhalf Owen Farrell kicked six from six, giving the hosts belief they could pull off a second straight win over the worlds top-ranked side and clinch a third successive November victory over Rugby Championship opponents. The All Blacks wrestled back the initiative, though, as Saveas 64th-minute try and Aaron Crudens late penalty saw them home. "Credit to New Zealand -- they are a champion side and they showed it in the end," England coach Stuart Lancaster said. "If you went into the England dressing room, we are desperately disappointed to have lost to a team that has been unbeaten all season." The All Blacks only defeat since August 2011 -- stretching back 34 games -- remains the reverse to England last year and their brilliant run of results has sparked a debate over whether they are the best team in world sports. Lancaster thinks so -- he said so this week -- but they were given a going-over by Englands forwards in the middle 40 minutes of the match, sending the All Blacks back in the collision and scrum and leaving New Zealand coach Steve Hansen shaking his head in the stands. "We mauled New Zealand to death," England backs coach Andy Farrell said. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but the departure of Carter -- the worlds premier pivot of the past decade -- heralded the start of Englands renaissance. He became the fifth All Black to 100 caps, marking the occasion by wearing golden boots with "DC100" on them, and had kicked eight points by the time he hobbled off with an injury thats "been rumbling away for a while," according to Hansen. "He would have loved to have been out there for 80 minutes," McCaw said, "but hes got that milestone and got a bit of a smile on his face." It is a testament to the character of this young, bold England team -- missing six British Lions -- that they didnt wilt after Reads 15th international try, which was converted to make it 17-3 and made him the most prolific No. 8 in rugby history -- eclipsing the try record of compatriot Zinzan Brooke. It was also the fifth straight game in which he has scored. Read had also set up Saveas try inside two minutes, offloading deftly as he was being ushered into touch by three tacklers to allow the winger, who also scored two tries here last year, to romp clear untouched. Fourteen points down against the best team in the world, England made a statement of intent by turning down three kicks at goal to go for attacking lineouts. After the third lineout, Billy Vunipola was dragged over the line in a maul but the video referee couldnt see the ball grounded and ruled no try. From the resulting scrum, the ball was kicked forward by Englands pack but Read fumbled and Launchbury pounced to ground on the dive from close range. Carter went off, Cruden kicked a penalty but England was given cause for hope when Read was sin-binned in the 33rd after persistent team infringements. Farrell kicked three straight penalties, two while Read was off, and it needed something special for New Zealand to regain its foothold. Nonu provided it. After Charles Piutau was denied a try by a last-ditch tackle from Mike Brown, the All Blacks recycled to the left and Nonu offloaded brilliantly despite being tackled by England strongmen Ben Morgan and Courtney Lawes, and Savea ran through three opponents to ground. Crudens penalty in the 71st, giving him eight points for the match, ended Englands comeback hopes.

http://www.cheaptitansjerseysauthentic.com/ . -- Playing time has been limited for Maxim Tissot this season, so the Montreal Impact defender made the most of his first scoring opportunity on Saturday.Whenever someone asks me to play general manager, wondering what position I would fill first in assembling a team from scratch, I invariably say shortstop, unless of course there is another Roberto Alomar on the horizon at second base. However, I decided to take a look at the 13 World Series since the turn of the century and what I saw may have changed my mind. Over those 13 years, eight catchers have shared those World Series rings and four have two apiece. Furthermore you could argue that four or five of those eight will be going to the Hall of Fame. Lets start with the Yankees Jorge Posada. He won the "Fall Classic" with the Yankees in 2000, (not his first) at age 28 and then won again in 2009 at age 37. Then there is the Red Sox former captain, and now front office stalwart, Jason Varitek. He won that historic “Curse of the Babe” ending 2004 World Series with Boston at age 32. Varitek won it again at 35 with Boston in 2007. Yadier Molina, the best catcher in the game right now, won his first with St. Louis in 2006 at 24. Then in 2011 he won his second at 29. Now at 31, hes into the National League Championship Series against the Dodgers, with a decent shot at winning a third. Buster Posey of the Giants has had a remarkable career so far. He won the World Series in 2010 at 23 and, after missing a sizeable chunk of the following season, came back to win again in 2012. Molina already looks like a lock for the Hall of Fame, and Posey is right on that path. You can argue for and against Posada and Varitek, but I believe both will eventually get into Cooperstown. In 2003, Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez won his World Series with the then Florida Marlins at age 31. The only thing that might keep Rodriguez out of the Hall of Fame, or at least delay his entry, are the allegations that he used steroids. If youre keeping count, thats nine of the last 13 World Series winners who had No. 1 catchers worthy of Hall of Fame consideration. Included in the other four is Yadier Molinas older brother Benji, who won with the Angels in 2002 at age 28. A third brother Jose, who later played with the Blue Jays and now suits up for Tampa Bay, was one of Benjis back-ups that year. The only one I really had trouble remembering was the Arrizona Diamonbacks primary catcher in 2001 when they beat the Yankees.

The other 2, oddly enough are going to be free agents after the World Series. A.J Pierzynski won with the Chicago White Sox in 2005, ending that franchises drought that dated back to 1917. He was 29 at the time. And Carlos Ruiz was part of the great run the Phillies had under Charlie Manuel and won his "Fall Classic” in 2008 at age 29. Ruiz has had shoulder issues and was suspended for PED use. Hell be 35 next season. The top two potential free agents in the off season are Bostons Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Atlantas Brian McCann. The Blue Jays must upgrade behind the plate in the wake of the horrible season J.P Arencibia had. McCann and Saltalamacchia are probably beyond their reach however Pierzynski and Ruiz would both offer a short-term fix and veteran stability. Pierzynski caught Mark Buehrle in 2005, and is known as a fierce competitor, while Ruiz has caught the likes of Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels and Cliff Lee. Travis DArnaud, didnt exactly make a major impact with the Mets after being dealt to New York in the R.A Dickey swap, but another catcher the Jays swapped this past off-season did make his mark. 26-year-old Yan Gomes was traded to Cleveland along with utility infielder Mike Aviles for right hander Esmil Rogers, who was plugged into the rotation when injuries took their toll again this season. Rogers effectively became the compensation for John Farrell moving on to manage Boston, since Aviles was part of that trade to Cleveland. Gomes though, was the real story of the deal. The Sao Paolo native was the first Brazilian to play in the Majors when he debuted with the Jays in 2012. He was viewed as more of a utility type who could catch, play third and DH, and hit with a bit of power. For Cleveland though he caught 85 games, and had a .996 fielding percentage. He also threw out 41% of those attempting to steal bases against him. Gomes hit .294 with 11 homers and 38 runs batted in. The Blue Jays may one day regret they dealt him away, if they dont already.
