AUBURN HILLS, Mich.
Brad Jones Jersey . -- The Chicago Bulls felt
they played only two quarters of defence Wednesday night. That was all they
needed to beat the Detroit Pistons 99-79 and end a four-game losing streak. The
Pistons led 53-51 at the half, but Chicago only allowed 26 second-half points,
including 11 in the fourth quarter, as they pulled away for the easy win. "They
made some shots in the first half, but I liked the way we were playing
offensively," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "In the second half, we got our
defensive intensity going." Chicagos defence was at its best in the fourth
quarter, where the Pistons went scoreless on 10 straight possessions.
Jonas Jerebkos jumper had pulled Detroit to 80-75 with 8:39 left, but the Bulls
didnt allow another basket until Gigi Datomes jumper made it 99-77 with 1:31 to
go. "This has been a tough road trip for us," said Kirk Hinrich. "We played to
our strengths tonight, we really competed defensively in the second half and we
got one in the win column. Detroit shot 27.8 per cent in the second half, missed
all six 3-point attempts, went 6 of 13 from the line and turned the ball over
nine times. "They were obviously a lot better in the second half than they had
been in the first half," Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks said. "We couldnt score
the ball, and a lot of that was because of their defence." Luol Deng led the
Bulls with 27 points, while reserve Taj Gibson had a career-high 23. Tony Snell,
making the first start of his career, added 13 points in 37 minutes. "When I
heard I was in the starting lineup, I just told myself to play my game and not
rush anything," he said. "All the hours Ive put in, working hard in the gym,
were so that Id be ready for this." Rodney Stuckey finished with 25 off the
bench for Detroit but no one else had more than 13. Josh Smith had 13 points and
11 rebounds and Andre Drummond had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Pistons.
Point guards Brandon Jennings and Will Bynum combined for two points on 1-for-8
shooting in the second half. "We certainly needed some scoring from Brandon and
Bynum," Cheeks said. "If you dont get anything from either of them, you are
going to have a hard time." Neither team played much defence in the first half,
with the Pistons shooting 58.5 per cent to Chicagos 52.4 per cent. Stuckey and
Gibson both had 15 points off the bench, and each team also had two starters in
double figures by halftime. Six quick points from Joakim Noah helped Chicago put
together a 18-8 run that gave them 69-61 late in the third. The Bulls had three
straight possessions with a chance to move the margin into double figures, but
two misses on open jumpers and a fast-break turnover let the Pistons stay close.
Stuckey finally ended Detroits drought with a pair of baskets, and the Pistons
pulled to 69-65. The fight-back was short-lived, though, and the Bulls had the
advantage back to 76-68 by quarters end. The margin stayed in the high single
figures for the early part of the fourth, but Detroit started to struggle when
Cheeks took Stuckey out of the game. It was 86-75 when Stuckey returned with
five minutes left, but he couldnt help. Hinrich immediately made a three-point
play to make it a 14-point game, and Chicago led by as many as 24 down the
stretch. "They are tough, but we adjusted to the physical play of the game,"
Thibodeau said. "When the ball was in the air, we got bodies on people and
fought for the ball." NOTES: Michigan native Floyd Mayweather Jr. was seated at
courtside, a few seats away from Pistons owner Tom Gores. Mayweather,
accompanied by a large entourage, engaged in some friendly banter with Bulls
players, including an imitation of Joakim Noahs unusual free-throw style. He
also got a large ovation when he was shown on the scoreboard during the fourth
quarter. ... Stuckey leads the Eastern Conference with points off the bench,
coming into the game at 15.9 points. ... Datome finished with four points on his
26th birthday.

the second end, and followed that with two more apiece in the fourth and sixth
ends.

The Indianapolis Colts keep digging themselves into early holes -- and proving
they know how to come back and win. Donald Brown ran for two touchdowns,
Andrew Luck added another and the Colts rallied yet again, this time beating the
Tennessee Titans 30-27 on Thursday night. The Colts (7-3) trailed 14-0 in the
first quarter and have been outscored 35-0 in the first quarters in their past
three games -- two of them victories. They also have trailed in six games after
the first quarter this season. "At the end of the day winning is what matters,"
Luck said. "We were fortunate in this game to survive our mistakes and have a
chance to win. ... But we know thats got to be fixed." Adam Vinatieri kicked
three field goals, including a 50-yarder, and Coby Fleener had a career-high
eight catches for 107 yards to help the Colts bounce back quite nicely from a
38-8 home loss to St. Louis. They have yet to lose back-to-back games under
coach Chuck Pagano and are 8-0 coming off a loss. "Obviously, starting out like
that is something were all too familiar with," Fleener said. "Thats something we
have to work and get corrected." The Colts are back in charge of the AFC South
too, now having beaten all three divisional opponents on the road. "Were not
worried about that yet," Luck said. "Were worried about this next game." The
Titans (4-6) lost their second straight and fifth in six games, blowing the big
lead. Chris Johnson ran for two touchdowns and 70 yards in the first quarter,
but had only 16 yards after that. "Weve got to find that winning formula,
whatever it is," Titans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said. "We have to find a
way to pull these games out at the end. Its a tough locker room in there right
now. Thats two in a row that kind of slipped away from us. Two big ones, two
costly ones for us." Fitzpatrick drove the Titans 80 yards in four plays,
capping the drive with a 19-yard TD pass to Delanie Walker with 1:54 left. But
the Titans, just like they did in becoming the first team to lose to
Jacksonville this season on Sunday, couldnt execute an onside kick with the ball
not even covering 10 yards before Colts linebacker Pat Angerer covered it up.
The Colts had the ball less than 6 minutes in the first quarter and wound up
holding the ball more than 32:23. They also outgained the Titans 366-340 after
Tennessee opened with a 148-4 edge in total offence with its quick start.
Indianapolis sealed the victory with an 11-play drive capped by Brown with an
11-yyard TD with 3:01 left, and the Colts ran on 10 of the 11 plays for 60
yards.
Pedro Chirivella Liverpool Jersey. That was
the Colts fourth drive of 11 plays or more, and Brown praised the maligned
offensive line for a phenomenal job. So did Pagano, who said the linemen took it
personally. "They had a point to prove," Pagano said. Luck finished 23 of 36 for
232 yards passing. The Titans came out with the start they only wish they had
Sunday losing to Jacksonville 29-27. Fitzpatrick did not turn the ball over once
replacing Jake Locker, whos out the rest of the season with a Lisfrac injury to
his right foot. The Titans were up 17-6 at halftime and looked to be in control
as the Colts had a mini-meltdown with three personal fouls including linebacker
Erik Walden head-butting Delanie Walker after ripping the helmet off the Titans
tight end. The Colts won their fourth straight and for the ninth time in 10
games over their divisional rival with Vinatieris 30-yard field goal as the
first half expired helping settle the Colts down. That was the first of 20
straight points as they dominated in the third quarter holding the ball for more
than 11 minutes in taking a 23-17 lead. They opened the third quarter with an
11-play drive where Luck completed all five of his passes for 42 yards,
including two on third down. Brown capped the drive with a 7-yard TD. Then
Devon Wylie, signed to the roster Tuesday for an injured Damian Williams at
returner, ran into teammate Craig Stevens and fumbled on the kickoff for
Tennessee. Daniel Herron recovered for the Colts at the Titans 20, and Luck
scrambled for an 11-yard TD two plays later. It was yet another special teams
gaffe this season by the Titans. "For whatever reason, we just cant hold onto
the football," Titans coach Mike Munchak said. "Another seven-point play
really." The Colts forced Tennessee three-and-out, and the Titans finally held
in forcing Indianapolis to a field goal. Vinatieri kicked his third of the
night, a 50-yarder that went just over the crossbar. That capped 17 unanswered
points in the third quarter as Luck connected on his first eight passes and was
9 of 11 for 71 yards in the quarter. NOTES: Vinatieri tied his career best with
his fourth field goal from at least 50 yards this season. He is 4 of 6 this
season in that range. ... The Colts are 8-0 under Pagano when not turning over
the ball. ... The Colts improved to 4-1 on the road this season. ... Walker
caught a career-high 10 passes for 91 yards. ... Titans WR Justin Hunter was
being evaluated for a head injury.
