A rollicking hundred from Kedar Jadhav and a near-hundred from Naushad Shaikh led Maharashtra to 352 for 5, at nearly four runs an over, against Assam at the IIT-Chemplast ground in Chennai. Asics Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Moins Cher . Having chosen to bat, Maharashtra made a solid start through their captain Swapnil Gugale, who added 54 for the first wicket with Murtaza Trunkwala and 29 for the second with Shaikh before falling for 50 off 81 balls (8x4). Jadhav entered the scene and dominated the bowling, scoring 115 off just 106 balls, with 15 fours and three sixes, and adding 183 for the third wicket with Shaikh before falling to the left-arm spinner and local boy J Syed Mohammad.Shaikh and Ankit Bawne then put on 59 for the fourth wicket before both fell for the addition of only two runs to Maharashtras score. Shaikh fell for 97, having faced 163 balls and struck 12 fours, while Bawne went for 38. Chirag Khurana and Vishant More saw out the remaining 12.5 overs of the day, adding 25 runs in that time.Amitkumar Gautam played a lone hand, scoring a century while the rest of the batting crumbled around him, as Rajasthan folded for 238 against Delhi in Wayanad. Only two other batsmen passed 20 - Salman Khan scored 31 at No. 6, and Deepak Chahar 47 at No. 8 - as Rajasthan, sent in to bat, stumbled against seamers Sumit Narwal, Navdeep Saini and Vikas Tokas, who shared the first eight wickets. Gautam was seventh out for 106, having faced 182 balls and hit 15 fours and two sixes. Left-arm spinner Manan Sharma took the last two wickets as Rajasthan were bowled out in 71.3 overs.Having recovered from the thumb injury that had kept him out of action since Indias second Test against New Zealand, Shikhar Dhawan made a solid start to his comeback, scoring an unbeaten 29 off 39 balls to drive Delhi to 37 for no loss at stumps. Gautam Gambhir, released from Indias squad after the first Test against England, was batting on 6 off 28 at the other end. Basant Mohantys 3 for 46 led Odishas bowling effort against group toppers Karnataka, who folded for 179 after being sent in to bat at the Palam Sports Complex in Delhi. Karnataka struck back thereafter, leaving Odisha 42 for 2 at stumps.Karnataka made a reasonable start to the day, with R Samarth and Robin Uthappa putting on 52 for the second wicket, but gave Odisha an opening by losing both their openers to run-outs. Samarth and Uthappa fell in the space of three balls, the latter out to Alok Mangarajs medium-pace, and Karnataka never really recovered, despite an 84-ball 54 (8x4) from their wicketkeeper CM Gautam, who was last out in the 67th over.A hundred from Sheldon Jackson and 78 from Chirag Jani lifted Saurashtra to 301 on a closely fought first day against fellow strugglers Vidarbha at the Karnail Singh Stadium in Delhi. Sent in to bat, Saurashtra were rocked by the medium-pace of Rajneesh Gurbani, who took three of the first four wickets to leave them 101 for 4. Jackson, who had come in at No. 4, stabilised the innings, putting on 66 for the fifth wicket with Prerak Mankad (28) and 60 for the sixth with Jani before becoming Gurbanis fourth victim for 116 (149b, 15x4, 2x6). Gurbani would go on to finish with figures of 4 for 85.Including Jackson, Vidarbha picked up three wickets for 11 runs to leave Saurashtra 238 for 8, before Jani and Vandit Jivranjani added 53 for the ninth wicket. Jani was ninth out for 78 off 117 balls (11x4, 1x6). Jivranjani ended not out on 5 off 38 balls as Saurashtra lost their last wicket at the start of the 87th over. When the 2016 tennis season unfurled Down Under, Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic were the unchallenged champions of their elite orbits. Erik Haula Wild Jersey .By the end of the year, the No. 1 players had been unseated in shocking fashion by two exceptionally late bloomers, Angelique Kerber and Andy Murray.Williams was the WTAs top-ranked player for 186 consecutive weeks, equaling Steffi Grafs Open era record. Djokovic occupied the ATP World Tour throne for 122 consecutive weeks. Collectively, thats nearly six straight years of dominance. The year-end obituaries of the fallen No. 2-ranked players, however, sounded a bit shrill. As 2017 rapidly approaches, we can report that Williams -- now a doddering 35 -- and the 29-year-old Djokovic are still breathing. In fact, it wouldnt be a stretch to imagine them winning multiple Slams and reclaiming their No. 1 rankings.Amid all the hype and talk of change, its easy to forget that Djokovic won the first two majors of the season and made the final of the fourth; Williams lost to Kerber in the final of the Australian Open and beat her in the Wimbledon final. In retrospect, its now clear Serena spoiled us with a late-career surge that has no historic parallel. After turning 30, following the 2011 US Open, she won nine of the next 20 Grand Slam singles titles -- dominating womens tennis over a five-year span in spectacular fashion. She and Djokovic still have their supporters. Its Jan. 30, the Monday after the Australian Open ends, said Brad Gilbert, who coached Andy Murray, Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick. And you tell me that [Serena/Djokovic] double happened. No, I wouldnt be surprised -- at all.Djoker has won six of those titles. Serenas like a stock -- how do you predict it? The fact shes played as little as she has -- shes 35, and shes probably the betting favorite. Sort of like Tom Brady and the Patriots. Dont focus on the age; look at the history. Both Djokovic and Williams struggled with injuries, which led to diminished confidence -- their signature weapon in recent years.Heading into this years US Open, Williams was still a favorite, and with a title, would have strung together another excellent year. Instead she got beaten by ascendant Karolina Pliskova in the semifinals.I wasnt able to move the way I wanted to move, Williams told the media afterward. When youre injured, youre thinking of other things when you should be just playing and thinking of your shots. My mind was just a little bit everywhere. So was her season. There were surprisingly early losses in the Rio Olympics in singles and, with sister Venus, doubles. Serena finished with two titles (Wimbledon and Rome) and played only 44 matches, her lowest totals in five years. And, for the second consecutive year, she shut her season down after the US Open. Her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, was moved to call it a very bad season.Williams, who was dogged by shoulder and knee issues, literally limped away from the year.Djokovic nursed a nagging arm injury and, after winning the French Open to complete his career Grand Slam, tailed off drastically. After losing to Murray in the final of the ATP year-end event, Djokovic looked and sounded weary.Right now, he said to the media, the goal is just to rest a little bit. Its been a long season, a very nice year, a lot to reflect on, a lot to take in. Its time to leave the racket aside for a little bit, just recover. There will be no recovery for six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker, the coach who was the most notable collateral damage after Djokovics second-half swoon. After three years with Djokovic, Becker was terminated at the end of the season.Because theyre getting a bit older, both Djokovic and Williams will be playing in 2017 with an enormous sense of urgency. Its suddenly a shrinking universe, with all kinds of younger players -- Milos Raonic, Kei Nishikori, Nick Kyrgios, Simona Halep, Pliskova and Madison Keys -- all looking for their first Slam win.Nearing 30, Djokovic has crossed that line of demarcation for male tennis players. Roger Federer, Pete Sampras and Rafael Nadal, who have won a total of 45 majors, collected only two among them after their 29th birthdays.Djokovic, with 12 Grand Slam singles titles, needs two to equal Sampras and Nadal and five to catch Federer. Williams is tied with Graf with 22 major titles, two behind all-time leader Margaret Smith Court. What must Serena and Djokovic do to successfully hit the reset button?Pam Shriver, and ESPN analyst who won 21 Grand Slam doubles titles, said they need to make an immediate impression.I think they have to play well in Australia -- maybe not win it but go deep in the draw, she said. For their own confidence and also sending a message to rest of the field. I think its going to be easier for Djokovic than Serena. I dont have lot of confidence in this mid-30s-take-four-months-off thing. I hope she can prove me wrong. Until then, I am skeptical.I think theyll both win majors; one of them will win more than one. The current No. 1s, Kerber and Murray, are in it to win it for the year. On the mens side, I think it will be the most unpredictable year since 2003 going back to Federers first Slam. PETERSBURG, Fla. DETROIT -- The Los Angeles Kings scored soon after the puck dropped for the first time in Detroit, and that was almost enough to finish off the offensively challenged Red Wings.Derek Forbort had a goal 21 seconds into the game on the first shot, Nic Dowd scored a tie-breaking goal late in the second period and Tyler Toffoli scored twice in the third, lifting Los Angeles to a 4-1 victory Thursday night. We were good all night, and even when we took penalties we were good on the kills, Toffoli said. The Buffalo game was really a wake up for us, and we stepped up. We cant stop now, though. We have to turn this into a streak.Los Angeles opened a nine-game trip that will last two-plus weeks with a 6-3 loss to the Sabres.I dont consider this a long trip, Kings coach Darryl Sutter insisted. Everybody here is used to traveling. The Red Wings had two shots in the first, their lowest total for any period this season and added just six more in the second.I was pretty much a spectator, said Jeff Zatkoff, who stopped 17 of 18 shots he faced. The guys did all the hard work and didnt leave me much to do.Detroits Jimmy Howard stopped 27 shots.Forbort put the Kings up early in the game, shooting through traffic and past Howard. A few minutes later, it looked like they were going to take a two-goal lead on Anze Kopitars shot that hit off the left post and caromed off the right post just outside of the goal line. The referees decision on the ice held up after video review.Detroits Mike Green made it 1-all with 7:13 left in the first period, taking advantage of a perfectly placed pass in front of the net by Luke Glendening, who created space behind the net by stoppinng quickly with the puck in the corner and reversing the direction he was skating. Jared Spurgeon Wild Jersey. The Red Wings, though, could not generate much more offense during a game in which they gave up goals over the first two periods to players who had combined to score just three goals over the first two months of the season. They came close to scoring midway through the third period when Gustav Nyquist drew iron on a shot.Desperate to score trailing by two goals, coach Jeff Blashill pulled Howard with about 5 minutes left to add an extra skater and the Kings ended up taking advantage with Toffoli shooting into an open net.We hadnt scored and we hadnt generated much, Blashill said. I felt like it was the right decision. I would do it again in a heartbeat.Detroit has lost four straight, all at home, and has scored no more than one goal in a game during the slump. The Red Wings were 0 for 4 on the power play, dropping them to 0 for 13 over the last three games with an extra skater. They have scored only one power-play goal in the last eight games. Were losing a lot of games because of that, Nyquist said.Game notes Los Aneles ended a seven-game losing streak against the Red Wings. ... Then the Pacers gave Oladipo and his Orlando teammates the cold shoulder. Paul Georges buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter spurred a 21-4 run, finally sending Indiana past the Magic 97-87 in a tougher-than-expected opening night matchup. HOUSTON -- The carnage that Louisville needed to make inroads in the College Football Playoff picture unfolded during this past chaotic weekend. Suddenly, the ball is in the Cardinals court with an opportunity to hold serve. With three of the top four teams in the CFP rankings falling on Saturday -- Clemson, Michigan and Washington, with the Tigers and Wolverines losing to unranked teams -- the door swung open for the Cardinals to secure a coveted spot in the national semifinals. Louisville, which is 9-1 and ranked No. 3 in this weeks Associated Press poll, needed a 34-point fourth quarter to subdue stubborn Wake Forest, but in doing so secured its highest ranking ever. And now, with two games remaining in their regular season, including a critical Thursday night showdown against Houston (8-2) at Houstons TDECU Stadium, the Cardinals have a viable path to a national championship. Well, at least one less treacherous than the road that faced Louisville following its 42-36 loss at Clemson on Oct. 1.For our players they just have to understand that we need to go out and play well and play the type of football that were capable of playing, Louisville coach Bobby Petrino said. Really thats what we need to do our last two games. Whatever happens happens; we cant control any of that. Weve just got to go play the way were capable of playing.Obviously we know its on national TV; nobody else is playing. Everybody will be watching it. But those are the types of games we like, something thats fun as a team, something that weve always felt has helped us in recruiting. And we are used to playing midweek games. The Cardinals will play their fourth non-Saturday game this week. Managing a schedule that undermines the routine of weekly preparation requires both mental and physical flexibility, but at this stage of the season Louisville has endured the drama and sidestepped the pitfalls that befell Clemson, Michigan and Washington.Following the loss to Clemson and prior to their rally against the Demon Deacons, the Cardinals survived close calls against Duke and Virginia. Against lesser foes their defense has thrived, but when challenged by elite offenses Louisville has wavered. Quarterback Lamar Jackson remains a Heisman Trophy frontrunner, yet against Wake Forest he mustered just one touchdown, and that came with 4:05 left to play. Stephen Curry 3 Shoes. Dynamic Houston senior quarterback Greg Ward Jr. is a handful under normal circumstances. Having to prepare for the Cougars high-scoring offense on a short week only ramps up the potential for Louisville to stumble like so many others have.Weve had full steam ahead for this game, Petrino said. We play 7 oclock on a Saturday night then again on Thursday, thats a short turnaround for our players and our coaches. It required us to do some work last week on Houston.Usually on Fridays I get to let our coaches take their kids to school and then come in here later on Friday morning. This week we were in the office at 7 a.m. working on Houston. Usually they get to spend some time Saturday morning. We were up at 7 oclock Saturday morning working on Houston. We had to adjust schedules. Probably dont know a whole lot whats going on in the world besides getting ready for the Houston game.Following a 5-0 start and their climb to No. 6 in the national polls, Houston started eying the Louisville game for its potential to thrust the Cougars into the CFP conversation. But Houston followed with a three-game lull that not only snuffed those hopes, but also put in peril a shot to win an American Athletic Conference title.Houston followed a road loss to Navy with a white-knuckle home win over Tulsa and a shocking defeat against middling SMU. Given those setbacks, the Cougars lack the sizzle they had prior to Navy stunning them and sending their season into a tailspin. That fact doesnt mean the Cougars arent relishing the opportunity ahead. This is extra anticipation and extra excitement knowing whos coming into town, theres no hiding from that, Cougars coach Tom Herman said. But, at the same time, its business as usual. The way we prepare is not going to change. The way we go about our business minute-to-minute and day-by-day, from a preparation standpoint is business as usual. I think our guys are excited to go against a top five team such as Louisville. PHOENIX -- The Los Angeles Dodgers placed centre fielder Matt Kemp on the 15-day disabled list Monday with joint inflammation in his troublesome left shoulder. Drew Bledsoe Youth Jersey . Manager Don Mattingly said Kemp tried to take early batting practice before Monday nights game at Arizona but experienced more soreness and, with the All-Star break coming up, it didnt make sense to play short-handed while Kemp heals. The move is retroactive to Saturday. Kemp was injured while swinging the bat against San Francisco on Friday night and hasnt played since. He received a cortisone shot Friday night but it hasnt helped much. Mattingly said the team doesnt think the problem is related to the shoulder surgery Kemp had in the off-season. "Its kind of a separate issue," Mattingly said. "It is that shoulder, though." The Dodgers recalled outfielder Scott Van Slyke from Triple-A Albuquerque to take Kemps roster spot. Los Angeles also placed right-hander Stephen Fife on the 15-day DL with right shoulder bursitis and added newly acquired right-hander Ricky Nolasco to the roster. Nolasco, obtained in a trade with Miami, will start Tuesday night. Mattingly said left-hander Chris Capuano would take Fifes next scheduled start. Fife could be back for a scheduled start after the break. Kemp will return to Los Angeles on Tuesday to see team doctor Neal ElAttrache. Its Kemps second stint on the DL this season. He missed 24 games from May 30 to June 25 with a right hamstring strain. Kemp was clearly frustrated. "Its going to take more than a couple of days," he said. "I just want to play and I want to be 100 per cent when I play. Im not good when Im 70-80 per cent. I may be all right, but I want to be more than all right." Mattingly said the team had expected the cortisone shot to help more than it did. "He had a shot earlier this year that seemed to make everything go away for a long time. I think that was maybe April or spring or something," the manager said. "So thats why I think we expected this thing to be gone by today. "I think were being a little cautious. He probably would be able to play before the break, but it didnt seem to be worth it." Kemp is hitting .254 with four homers and 24 RBIs in 61 games. Van Slyke was optioned to Albuquerque last Friday but did not appear in a game there. In Monday nights lineup, Andre Ethier moved from left field to Kemps spot in centre, with Carl Crawford inserted in left. Fife also is on the DL for the second time this year. He missed 33 games from April 22 to May 30, also with right shoulder bursitis. Fife is 3-3 with a 2.76 ERA in eight starts. Tedy Bruschi Jersey .C. Lions has come to an end. The regular captain has been ruled out of the series with an elbow injury which leaves a hole in the leadership, in the batting line-up and in the field. It will be up to Faf du Plessis and JP Duminy to step up as senior players, while David Miller and Farhaan Behardien will need to find form with the bat and light up the fielding effort. South Africas squad as a whole must show they can cope in the absence of one of their biggest names. The bowling will be bolstered by the return of Dale Steyn, who was rested for the West Indies tri-series in June. He will have Kyle Abbott, Kagiso Rabada, Wayne Parnell, Dwaine Pretorius and Andile Phehlukwayo for company.Australia have not packed their pace pack with the same power, leaving several frontliners at home while giving opportunities to a younger crop. They have brought their captain along for the trip, which is certain to provide fodder for some off-field banter - Steven Smith was sent home from Sri Lanka to prepare for the summer and among those critical of the decisions were South Africans. Steyn and Graeme Smith had a few things to say on social media and, given the tension between Steyn and former Australia captain Michael Clarke in the past, this could be episode two.Episode three, of course, will take place in November when what some will consider the real battle begins. South Africa travel to Australia for three Tests. For now, enjoy the opening act.Form guideSouth Africa WLWLW (last five completed matches, most recent first)Australia WWWWLIn the spotlightDe Villiers absence for the next two months leaves Faf du Plessis in charge. Du Plessis has not been shy about expressing his desire to captain more and especially to lead from the front. With scrutiny over his scoring rate, this is the format in which he may feel he needs to prove himself. The middle overs are where South Africa dont want to let the game drift and it will be up to du Plessis to push their cause.Mitchell Marsh struggled for consistency in length on his return to the ODI side against Ireland, after having been rested for the Sri Lanka series last month. None of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, James Faulkner or Nathan Coulter-Nile are in the touring party, so it will be up to Marsh to play his part in filling those roles. He has taken more ODI wickets in 2016 than in any otherr year but has also been expensive, with an average of 34. Drew Bledsoe Womens Jersey. 13 compared to his 2015 average of 23.35. He will want to tighten up against South Africa.Teams newsWith Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir back in the squad, Andile Phehlukwayo and Aaron Phangiso are likely to be the two casualties from the Ireland victory. In the absence of Chris Morris, both Wayne Parnell and Dwaine Pretorius are likely to keep their places. Hashim Amla was sick and he rested a day before the match, but du Plessis was 99% sure the opener would be fine on Friday.South Africa (possible): 1 Quinton de Kock (wk), 2 Hashim Amla, 3 Faf du Plessis (capt), 4 JP Duminy, 5 David Miller, 6 Farhaan Behardien, 7 Wayne Parnell, 8 Dwaine Pretorius, 9 Dale Steyn, 10 Kagiso Rabada, 11 Imran TahirAfter Usman Khawajas unbeaten 82 in the Ireland match, Australia will be hard-pressed to choose between him and Aaron Finch. They may look to change their bowling attack with Chris Tremain coming into contention.Australia (possible): 1 David Warner, 2 Aaron Finch/Usman Khawaja, 3 Steven Smith (capt), 4 George Bailey, 5 Travis Head, 6 Mitchell Marsh, 7 Mathew Wade (wk), 8 John Hastings, 9 Adam Zampa, 10 Chris Tremain/Daniel Worrall, 11 Scott BolandPitch and conditionsUnlike Benonis tacky and, at times, two-paced pitch, SuperSport Park is expected to produce a pristine surface packed with runs. There should be something in it for the quicks too. Summer has arrived on the Highveld and a warm day is forecast, with temperatures close to 30 degrees. There is also the possibility of an afternoon thunderstorm which may interrupt briefly.Stats and triviaIn the last two years, South Africa and Australia have played eight ODIs against each other. Of those, Australia have won five and South Africa two, with one no-result.Faf du Plessis has led South Africa in four ODIs, of which they have won three. The only defeat came in his captaincy debut against New Zealand in Kimberley in January 2013.QuotesPretoria and Wanderers are generally wickets that dont offer too much spin, but there is always a role for a spinner to contain the game. So I definitely see the role of a spinner, not much attacking, but by doing a holding job. For the first three games, we wont see too much spin. South Africas stand-in captain Faf du Plessis indicates South Africa will field at least one of their three spinnners. Both of our top orders play the same pretty much all around the world. Their job is to go out and play the way they play and be nice and positive. You cant really ask David Warner and Aaron Finch to go block it around. Its not the way they play and its not the way I want them to play either.Steven Smith agrees that this series may become a battle of the top orders. Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has ruled out the possibility of rejoining former boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City due to his love for Manchester United. Paul George Pacers Jersey . Guardiola will leave Bayern Munich for the Etihad Stadium this summer and there has been plenty of speculation about which players he might try and bring to the club.Former United player Pique, who spent three-and-a-half years at Old Trafford prior to his move to Barca for £5m in May 2008, will not be one of them, however. Pique pictured in 2008 during his Manchester United days The 28-year-old admits he wants to play abroad again before the end of his career but has no intention of joining former rivals City, even if that meant the opportunity to work again with Guardiola, his former manager at the Nou Camp.My love for Manchester United is too great for me to sign for City, even though Pep is a great coach, he said on Periscope. That love does not mean he is thinking about one day making a return to United either, but he says he is keen to experience another league at some point. The Spain international, who scored the winning goal in Barcas 2-1 win over Sevilla on Sunday night, added: Im very happy in Barcelona. United are my second club, but my future is at Barca. Barcelona came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Sevilla Im very proud to play at Barcelona. I think its the best club in the world.I would like to try a different league when Ive got a few years to go before retiring.I dont know if it will be Colombia, Id like that for [partner] Shakira, but nobody can predict the future.  Mark Ogden thinks that Pep Guardiola could oversee a big turnover of players in the summer if some do not raise their game Watch Rayo Vallecano v Barcelona on Thursday. It is a cliché dragged out by fans and pundits regularly when discussions take place around which teams are better than others. These are heady days for one of Australias top basketball players. In the past few months alone, Matthew Dellavedova helped the Cleveland Cavaliers win their first NBA title, joined the Milwaukee Bucks in a $38 million sign-and-trade deal, played in the Olympics and got engaged.?Dellavedova is expected to play a larger role with the Bucks than he did with Cleveland, where he built a reputation as a tenacious defender. Heading into his first season in Milwaukee, we caught up with the scrappy fourth-year pro to talk about life on and off the court.Q: With Jason Kidd as your coach, youre getting a chance to play for one of the games great point guards. What kind of relationship do the two of you have?A: Were just getting to know each other. Hes been offering tips on what he sees out there. Theres no better [situation] as a point guard as having a coach that played the same position at the highest level for a long, long time. Its been great so far, and were looking forward to the season.Q: Has he given you specific pointers, or is it more general advice?A: Its been general, about leading guys and things like that. On the court, different passes or pushing the break. He also brought John Stockton?into training camp, so it was really cool to be able to ask him some questions as well.Q: How good can the Bucks be this season, and what will it take for the team to reach that potential?A: Obviously, losing?Khris [Middleton], to a torn hamstring?was a big loss. But with the youth and unlimited potential of?Giannis [Antetokounmpo]?and?Jabari [Parker]?and the young core of guys, I think a lot of improvement will come from within from those guys. The other guys who have been brought in [Michael Beasley, Orlando Johnson and Jason Terry, plus draft picks Thon Maker and Malcolm Brogdon] have to help complement those guys. We brought in some shooters, so if we can help space the floor it will help this team a lot.?Q: With the Bucks, you get to play a bigger role and log more minutes. How does that change your approach on the court?A: You have to be smart about taking carre of your body and those sort of things, but you always want to compete and play hard. Swingman Reggie Miller Jersey. So I dont think it really changes too much.Q: So you wont be changing your aggressiveness on the defensive end of the floor?A: We need to be a good defensive team to win games, so we definitely need to play hard on that end.Q: You got to play with LeBron James for three years, including winning the championship last season. What did you learn by watching him?A: One of the biggest things I took away was just how well he takes care of his body and the amount of work he puts in every day to make sure that he can bring it every night. ... It was great to have that experience and be able to learn from one of the best.Q: You recently got engaged to your college sweetheart. Have the two of you decided when and where the wedding will be?A: Not yet. Weve just moved to a new city, and there are a few things to sort out first.Q: You get to play with another Australian in rookie big man Thon Maker. What are your early impressions of him?A: He really impresses me as aggressive on the offensive boards. Hes a great athlete, and he has a great shooting touch as well. He needs to get stronger and put on a little bit of weight, but with how hard he works and how hard he plays, I think hes got all the potential as well. I think he will be a great player.Q: Youve made quite an impression on the fans in Chicago. When they boo you, does that serve as motivation, or do you even notice?A: Its not extra motivation. You dont really need that. I could definitely hear them the other night. Obviously, [the Cavaliers] had a tough, physical series against them a couple years ago. They have great fans, so they go right into it.Q: You recently attended a Green Bay Packers game. Are you all in on becoming a cheesehead?A: When we moved into our house, our realtor gave us a couple cheeseheads. Ive never really [supported] a football team, so Im a cheesehead now. NEW YORK -- The image of Beyonce and Jay-Z courtside on the giant US Open video screens drew the expected cheers from the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd Thursday night. Nike Shox Nz Uk .From the competitors on court, there were two reactions.I looked up and was like, Oh s---, Beyonce is watching, 87th-ranked Vania King said. And from Serena Williams, who was the reason the superstar couple was there?Usually when people are there, I try to play better, especially if theyre famous and theyre doing so great at their job, she said. Its like I want to show them that Im good at my job, too -- minus today. As hard as it might be to read Williams changing moods on a tennis court, it is not difficult to distinguish between celebratory and chagrined. And despite her 6-3, 6-3 second-round victory over King, Williams was definitely not thrilled.I just think it should have been a different scoreline for me, Williams said. I feel like I made a lot of errors.A qualifier into the main draw, King fondly remembers Arthur Ashe Court as the place where she sang America the Beautiful before one of Andre Agassis final matches when she was a 17-year-old in 2006. That same year, she came through qualifying and reached the second round. It was a considerably different memory than the only other time she played Williams, taking only one game off the world No. 1 in the second round of the 2014 US Open.I was disappointed I lost [Thursday], but I was happy at least that I got to show a little bit of my game, King said. I felt like last time I played her, I got blown off the court and I was very, very nervous and wasnt able to impose any of my game because I was just overwhelmed by the situation. This time she was overwhelmed only by Williams serve.I felt like if I could get my racket on it, I was doing well, King said.Williams followed a 6-3, 6-3 first-round win over Ekaterina Makarova, rich with carefully placed serves and blazing groundstrokes, with a match Thursday night in which she hit 13 aces and won 83 percent of her first serves while registering a stunning 38-4 advantage in winners.Though Williams reported no residual soreness in the right shoulder that has severely limited her match play this year, averaging 107 mph on her first serves, she had 28 unforced errors to Kings 11.[The shoulder] is stable, Williams said. Ive just got to keep it like that. Its two matches in, and usually you want to be able to play seven matches. Its not even close to the halfway point. I definitely want to keep it as good as it can be.But the owner of the best serve in tennis knows whats most important to her if she is to surpass Steffi Graf for her 23rd career Grand Slam title.[The serve] was the best part of my game today, Williams said. So seeing thats what I did the least [well] coming into this tournament, its a really good sign [that I was] able to serve well and [Ill] hopefully gain momentum with that. With the win, Williams hit still another milestone on her list, tying Martina Navratilova for the most Grand Slam match victories in the Open era at 306.Sometimes I dont even know that Im hitting these milestones, Williams said. But some of them, Im really proud of. Like this ones kind of cool, to win 306. Thats really a cool milestone.Sister Venus Williams, who played earlier in the day on the covered Ashe Stadium court, defeating Julia Goerges 6-2, 6-3, made history of her own this week with a record 72nd Grand Slam main draw appearance. At 36, Venus goals are not unlike her sisters.Im grateful that I can still play the game I want to play right now, Venus said. As an athlete, as a tennis player, thats what you want. ... If you get to the point where you cant do that, thats where you need to start to think, OK, I need to move on.Im not at that point yet, and hopefully Ill be able to play the game I want to play right until the last day that Im done. For Serena, playing the game she wants generally accompanies winning tournaments. Even her opponents seem to expect nothing less.My coach asks me before each tournament, Who do you think is going to win the tournament? And Im like, Well, Im still in the tournament, King said with a laugh. But I always say Serena. I mean, who else can you say? And youre always surprised if she loses. No matter what shape shes in, what condition, shes the best player in the world. ... If my coach asked me [now], I would say Serena. Ive never not picked her. LONDON -- Usain Bolt looked in fine shape for the Olympics by winning his last race before Rio de Janeiro on his return from injury. Rob Gronkowski Jersey .Keni Harrison also looked more than ready for Brazil by breaking a 28-year record in the 100-meters hurdles in London on Friday.Only unlike Bolt, Harrison is not going to the Olympics. While Bolt is Rio-bound despite being forced to pull out of the Jamaican trials with a hamstring injury, Harrison failed to make the American track squad after a poor performance at her trials.Instead, Harrison will have to settle for her record-breaking night at the London Diamond League meet being her crowning moment of the summer. The 23-year-old Harrison ran 12.20 seconds on the site of the 2012 Olympics to surpass Yordanka Donkovas previous mark of 12.21 set in August 1988; before the American was born. Not making the Olympic team I was really upset, Harrison said. And I wanted to come out here and do what I know what I could have done (in Rio).Even sweeter for Harrison was finishing ahead of compatriots Brianna Rollins and Kristi Castlin, who both qualified for the Olympics ahead of her.You have one bad day but I knew I still had it in me, Harrison said, referring to her sixth-place finish at the U.S. trials earlier this month. I was coming out here with just vengeance to show these girls what I have.Bolt rarely has anything to prove to anyone. But the six-time Olympian champion had to show in London that he hasnt been slowed by the hamstring injury that led to him withdrawing from his countrys Olympic trials. In his first 200-meter race of the season, the worlds fastest man ran 19.89 seconds at the same Olympic Stadium where four years ago he took golds from the 100, 200 and 4x100-meter relay races. On Friday, Bolt finished ahead of Alonso Edward of Panama and British runner Adam Gemili, clocking below LaShawn Merritts world-leading time of 19.74.Im not fully in shape. I need more work but over time I will be fine, Bolt said. I could feel the rust. The execution up there wasnt perfect but it was my first run so I cant complain. The only complaints Bolt had were targeted at American rivals who had lightly suggested -- not strongly -- that he got preferential treatment by being allowed to skip the Jamaican trials.I felt it was a joke, the Bolt said. I felt it was a disrespect the fact they think Id back out of a trials. Me, Usain Bolt who has proven myself year (after) year that Im the greatest.I laughed when I heard it. I was disappointed, especially in Justin Gatlin.Elsewhere in London, there was a trio of French winners: Jimmy Vicaut ran a sluggish 100 meters in 10.02 seconds, Pierre-Ambroise Bosse clocked 1 minute, 43.88 seconds in the 800 and Renaud Lavillenie cleared 5.9 meters in the pole vault.Olympic triple jump Christian Taylor prepared for his defense in Rio by reaching 17.78 meters. There were a couple of victories for British women on the fast newly-laid track: Laura Muir in the 1,500 as well as the quartet of Asha Philip, Desiree Henry, Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita in the 4X100-meter relay. The meet continues for a second day on Saturday. Speaking to the Chicago Tribune at baseballs Winter Meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, Boras called the former home of the Expos a "tremendous environment" for baseball.GSTAAD, Switzerland - Roger Federer slumped to a stunning defeat against No. 55 Daniel Brands in the Swiss Open second round on Thursday, his third straight tournament exit against a low-ranked opponent. Federer had trouble handling Brands serve and big forehands on the clay surface in the thin mountain air. The German right-hander won 6-3, 6-4 in just 65 minutes. "I wasnt consistent enough in the end," said Federer, who failed on five break-point chances. "He was serving well and I couldnt do enough with my return." The 31-year-old Swiss star has now lost to players ranked Nos. 116, 114 and 55 in the past month at Wimbledon; Hamburg, Germany and now in front of his home fans. Federers own ranking of No. 5 is his lowest in a decade since he started his run of 17 Grand Slam singles titles at Wimbledon in 2003. Federer saved a first match point by serving an ace when trailing 5-3, and a second in the next game with a forehand winner. Brands, who took a set off Federer in a second-round loss at Hamburg when they first played on tour, then clinched victory with a service winner. "For sure the altitude has helped me," Brands said. "I served well and put pressure on him from the very beginning." Defeat spoiled Federers return to Gstaad for the first time since he won the title in 2004 — and where he debuted on the ATP Tour in 1998 as a 17-year-old ranked No. 702. Federer only came to Gstaad and Hamburg seeking extra matches after his second-round exit at Wimbledon to Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine. After a three-week break, Federer returnedd in Hamburg testing a new, bigger racket but was slowed by a back injury and lost in the semifinals to left-hander Federico Delbonis of Argentina. Chris Hogan Womens Jersey. "Im happy that I was able to play because Ive had problems for some time now, already in Hamburg," Federer said. "But it didnt get worse during todays match." Still, Brands extended the streak of surprise losses, breaking Federers service to lead 4-2 in the opening set when he put away a simple overhead shot at the net. The 26-year-old German fired down 11 aces in the match, including two to close out the first set. Federer immediately lost serve in the second by netting a backhand volley, and had to save three break-point chances to avoid trailing 3-0. Federer rarely loses his opening match at a tournament: Thursdays defeat ranks alongside his round-of-64 exit in straight sets at Indian Wells, California, in March 2007 to Guillermo Canas of Argentina, then ranked No. 60. Federer is scheduled to return next month at the Montreal Masters, and then defend his Cincinnati Masters title before the U.S. Open begins Aug. 26. Third-seeded Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia was also eliminated in straight sets Thursday, piling up the unforced errors, including six double faults, to lose to Robin Haase of the Netherlands 6-2, 6-2. Two former Swiss Open champions advanced to the quarterfinals. Marcel Granollers of Spain, the 2011 winner, beat Federico Delbonis of Argentina 6-2, 7-5, and 2008 champion Victor Hanescu of Romania led Roberto Bautista 7-6 (2), 3-2 when the Spaniard retired with a back injury. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says his team needs to be flawless if it is going to beat Red Bull at the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend. Authentic Blake Griffin Jersey .After winning five races in a row and taking pole position by over a second at the last three rounds, Mercedes is in dominant form at the moment. However, the world champions have not won a race at the Hungaroring since the introduction of the current V6 turbo regulations in 2014 and Wolff believes the track, which requires a high-downforce set-up, will suit rivals Red Bull.We face a very different challenge in Budapest, he said. This circuit has not been kind to us over the past two years and it plays to the strengths of our rivals. The Red Bull, for example, is a car that functions well where high drag isnt penalised as much as at other types of circuit. So, in wet conditions and at low-speed circuits such as the Hungaroring, they are a major threat. We will need to be flawless to come out on top at this track.Mercedes executive director (technical) Paddy Lowe is expecting a tough weekend for the cars and drivers in Hungary. Its the only race we havent won in the V6 Hybrid Formula One era and the Hungaroring is a tough venue to crack, with only 13 of the 30 Grands Prix to be held at this circuit having been won by the pole sitter -- despite it being one of the toughest tracks on the calendar for overtaking. Its tough on both cars and drivers, with ambient temperatures often reaching well into the 30s Celsius. The layout is low-speed, so we will run as much downforce as possible -- similar to Monaco. With the SuperSoft compound available -- a tyre one step softer than the softest compound allocated last year - we expect to see some very quick qualifying times. Authentic Wesley Johnson Jersey .
