LONDON -- Usain Bolt looked in fine shape for the Olympics by winning his last
race before Rio de Janeiro on his return from injury.
Rob Gronkowski Jersey .Keni Harrison also
looked more than ready for Brazil by breaking a 28-year record in the 100-meters
hurdles in London on Friday.Only unlike Bolt, Harrison is not going to the
Olympics. While Bolt is Rio-bound despite being forced to pull out of the
Jamaican trials with a hamstring injury, Harrison failed to make the American
track squad after a poor performance at her trials.Instead, Harrison will have
to settle for her record-breaking night at the London Diamond League meet being
her crowning moment of the summer. The 23-year-old Harrison ran 12.20 seconds on
the site of the 2012 Olympics to surpass Yordanka Donkovas previous mark of
12.21 set in August 1988; before the American was born. Not making the Olympic
team I was really upset, Harrison said. And I wanted to come out here and do
what I know what I could have done (in Rio).Even sweeter for Harrison was
finishing ahead of compatriots Brianna Rollins and Kristi Castlin, who both
qualified for the Olympics ahead of her.You have one bad day but I knew I still
had it in me, Harrison said, referring to her sixth-place finish at the U.S.
trials earlier this month. I was coming out here with just vengeance to show
these girls what I have.Bolt rarely has anything to prove to anyone. But the
six-time Olympian champion had to show in London that he hasnt been slowed by
the hamstring injury that led to him withdrawing from his countrys Olympic
trials. In his first 200-meter race of the season, the worlds fastest man ran
19.89 seconds at the same Olympic Stadium where four years ago he took golds
from the 100, 200 and 4x100-meter relay races. On Friday, Bolt finished ahead of
Alonso Edward of Panama and British runner Adam Gemili, clocking below LaShawn
Merritts world-leading time of 19.74.Im not fully in shape. I need more work but
over time I will be fine, Bolt said. I could feel the rust. The execution up
there wasnt perfect but it was my first run so I cant complain. The only
complaints Bolt had were targeted at American rivals who had lightly suggested
-- not strongly -- that he got preferential treatment by being allowed to skip
the Jamaican trials.I felt it was a joke, the Bolt said. I felt it was a
disrespect the fact they think Id back out of a trials. Me, Usain Bolt who has
proven myself year (after) year that Im the greatest.I laughed when I heard it.
I was disappointed, especially in Justin Gatlin.Elsewhere in London, there was a
trio of French winners: Jimmy Vicaut ran a sluggish 100 meters in 10.02 seconds,
Pierre-Ambroise Bosse clocked 1 minute, 43.88 seconds in the 800 and Renaud
Lavillenie cleared 5.9 meters in the pole vault.Olympic triple jump Christian
Taylor prepared for his defense in Rio by reaching 17.78 meters. There were a
couple of victories for British women on the fast newly-laid track: Laura Muir
in the 1,500 as well as the quartet of Asha Philip, Desiree Henry, Dina
Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita in the 4X100-meter relay. The meet continues for a
second day on Saturday.

normally free throw-challenged centre did just that. Howard scored 18 of his 25
points in the fourth quarter, including 13 of 19 free throws in a 2 1/2-minute
stretch, and the Houston Rockets beat the Denver Nuggets 122-111.

. Speaking to the Chicago Tribune at baseballs Winter Meetings in Lake Buena
Vista, Florida, Boras called the former home of the Expos a "tremendous
environment" for baseball.GSTAAD, Switzerland - Roger Federer slumped to a
stunning defeat against No. 55 Daniel Brands in the Swiss Open second round on
Thursday, his third straight tournament exit against a low-ranked opponent.
Federer had trouble handling Brands serve and big forehands on the clay surface
in the thin mountain air. The German right-hander won 6-3, 6-4 in just 65
minutes. "I wasnt consistent enough in the end," said Federer, who failed on
five break-point chances. "He was serving well and I couldnt do enough with my
return." The 31-year-old Swiss star has now lost to players ranked Nos. 116, 114
and 55 in the past month at Wimbledon; Hamburg, Germany and now in front of his
home fans. Federers own ranking of No. 5 is his lowest in a decade since he
started his run of 17 Grand Slam singles titles at Wimbledon in 2003. Federer
saved a first match point by serving an ace when trailing 5-3, and a second in
the next game with a forehand winner. Brands, who took a set off Federer in a
second-round loss at Hamburg when they first played on tour, then clinched
victory with a service winner. "For sure the altitude has helped me," Brands
said. "I served well and put pressure on him from the very beginning." Defeat
spoiled Federers return to Gstaad for the first time since he won the title in
2004 — and where he debuted on the ATP Tour in 1998 as a 17-year-old ranked No.
702. Federer only came to Gstaad and Hamburg seeking extra matches after his
second-round exit at Wimbledon to Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine. After a
three-week break, Federer returnedd in Hamburg testing a new, bigger racket but
was slowed by a back injury and lost in the semifinals to left-hander Federico
Delbonis of Argentina.
Chris Hogan Womens Jersey. "Im happy that I
was able to play because Ive had problems for some time now, already in
Hamburg," Federer said. "But it didnt get worse during todays match." Still,
Brands extended the streak of surprise losses, breaking Federers service to lead
4-2 in the opening set when he put away a simple overhead shot at the net. The
26-year-old German fired down 11 aces in the match, including two to close out
the first set. Federer immediately lost serve in the second by netting a
backhand volley, and had to save three break-point chances to avoid trailing
3-0. Federer rarely loses his opening match at a tournament: Thursdays defeat
ranks alongside his round-of-64 exit in straight sets at Indian Wells,
California, in March 2007 to Guillermo Canas of Argentina, then ranked No. 60.
Federer is scheduled to return next month at the Montreal Masters, and then
defend his Cincinnati Masters title before the U.S. Open begins Aug. 26.
Third-seeded Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia was also eliminated in straight sets
Thursday, piling up the unforced errors, including six double faults, to lose to
Robin Haase of the Netherlands 6-2, 6-2. Two former Swiss Open champions
advanced to the quarterfinals. Marcel Granollers of Spain, the 2011 winner, beat
Federico Delbonis of Argentina 6-2, 7-5, and 2008 champion Victor Hanescu of
Romania led Roberto Bautista 7-6 (2), 3-2 when the Spaniard retired with a back
injury.
