The Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Wednesday that the team will be shutting down goaltender Ben Bishop for at least the remainder of the regular season and potentially into the playoffs. Early in the first period, the 27-year-old fell awkwardly on his left arm after getting his legs tangled up in an attempt to retrieve a puck. Bishop left the game and was spelled by Anders Lindback. Bishop suffered a similar injury earlier this season. On January 5, he hurt his wrist during practice and aggravated the injury later that night in a game against the Edmonton Oilers. He was diagnosed with a sprain and missed a week of action. Bishop had an MRI following Tuesday nights injury, but Lightning coach Jon Cooper says that no structural damage was detected. Cooper didnt rule out Bishop appearing "at some point" in the first round of the Atlantic Division playoffs for the Lightning in a likely match-up with the Montreal Canadiens.
