MADRID - Young right back Daniel Carvajal was presented to Real Madrids supporters on Friday, completing his return to his boyhood club. Josh Donaldson All Star Jersey . Madrid exercised a buyback option to recover Carvajal after his breakout season with German club Bayer Leverkusen. "Back in 2002 I put on a Real Madrid shirt for the first time and started to fight for a dream that today I have fulfilled," Carvajal told a few hundred Madrid fans who had turned out to welcome him home. "Thanks to the club president and the fans for all the support they have shown me. I want to thank them for the trust they placed in me during the 10 years I was here and the year I was away, although I didnt break ties with the club." The 21-year-old Carvajal signed a six-year contract with Madrid. He joins attacking midfielder Francisco "Isco" Alarcon as Madrids signings this off-season after both helped Spain win the under-21 European title. In his season with Leverkusen, he scored one goal and made seven assists to help the team finish third in the Bundesliga and qualify for the Champions League. Madrid paid Leverkusen €6.5 million to bring Carvajal back after having received €5 million for him in 2012. Carvajal gives Madrids new coach, Carlo Ancelotti, a reliable backup to veteran Alvaro Arbeloa, or perhaps even his replacement. Former coach Jose Mourinho often had to rely on midfielder Michael Essien to fill in for Arbeloa last season. Madrid has been criticized in recent years for not giving its own youth products a chance to make its first squad. Madrid president Florentino Perez said that Carvajal will serve as an example for all of Madrids youth players, showing them that it is indeed possible to earn a place on its first team packed with stars like Cristiano Ronaldo. "This club believes in its youth program, but it is very tough to reach the first team," Perez said, adding directly to Carvajal: "You know perfectly well the high demands this club makes of its players. Your moment has arrived, and I know that you will make this most of it." Roberto Alomar Jersey . BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Mike Magee made sure Chicagos run to the playoffs wouldnt be spoiled by Toronto FC. Magee scored his 20th goal of the season on a second half penalty kick to lead the hosts to a 1-0 win Saturday and put the Fire on verge of clinching a playoff berth. Toronto (5-17-11) missed their own chances as they fell to Chicago for the eighth time in 16 all-time meetings. "We knew wed have our opportunities, and what we didnt want to do was go down early," Toronto coach Ryan Nelson said. "The chances we had in the first half, they were incredibly good. But we have to finish. We didnt." Toronto goalkeeper Stefan Frei, making his 2013 debut in goal with Joseph Bendiks one-game suspension, had two saves on the night. The first was a diving stop on a Juan Luis Anangono header that drew raves from Nelson. "That save that Stefan made was probably for me the save of the season," Nelson said. "I havent seen it again but just from watching it live, I cant think of any (better) save that Ive seen." But Frei couldnt stop Magee, who had missed his previous penalty kick try last month against Montrreal. Paul Molitor Jersey. "The last one off the post was in the back of my mind," said Magee, now tied for MLS scoring lead with Montreals Marco Di Vaio. "(But) I got up there with all the confidence in the world. I was never going to miss that." Magee had a free kick into a crowd lined in front of Frei and officials called Toronto for a handball in the ensuing scramble, leading to the penalty kick. The Fire forward then skipped a shot into the back of the net. "Very disappointing with the penalty kick decision," defender and captain Steven Caldwell said. "We felt that it was a very poor decision by the referee and it cost us a point, or possibly three." The Fire (14-12-7) are temporarily tied for third in the Eastern Conference with Montreal. A win next Sunday in New York or a loss or tie by New England would lock up Chicagos playoff berth. Toronto and the Fire tied 1-1 on Sept. 11 at BMO Field. Since then Toronto has dropped four of its last five heading into next Saturdays season finale against Montreal. A 4-1 victory over D.C. United on Sept. 28 is the lone bright spot in that run.
