MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson was released from
jail Saturday on $12,000 bond, about seven hours after he was arrested overnight
on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Minnesota State Patrol, a trooper responded to a report of a stalled vehicle in
the lane on Interstate Highway 394 heading west out of downtown Minneapolis. As
Simpson got out of a red Dodge Charger, the trooper observed him with watery
eyes and slightly slurred speech. Simpson said he was at the Pour House, a
popular bar nearby, but denied that hed been drinking. After Simpson took field
sobriety tests, according to the State Patrol report, he was arrested at 4:03
a.m. local time. Simpson was booked about an hour and a half later at the
Hennepin County jail, where he refused to take a breath test. According to the
countys online record, Simpson was released at 12:52 p.m. The Vikings beat
Washington on Thursday, so players have the weekend off. The Vikings issued a
statement acknowledging their awareness of the situation. "We are continuing to
gather information and will have further comment at the appropriate time," the
statement said. Simpson is on his second one-year contract with the team after
playing his first three NFL seasons in Cincinnati. There, he spent 15 days in
jail for a felony drug conviction tied to a 2 1/2-pound marijuana shipment to
his home in Kentucky, where authorities said they found another pound of the
drug inside the house in September 2011. His sentence included three years of
probation. The NFL suspended him for three games last year for violating the
leagues substance abuse policy. League spokesman Randall Liu said Saturday that
Simpsons case will be reviewed. Simpson leads the Vikings with 491 yards
receiving this season, but the 27-year-old has yet to score a touchdown in 21
regular-season games with the team. His productivity this year is the primary
reason coaches have cited for their minimal use of first-round draft pick
Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson, who had his first career scoring reception in
the 34-27 victory over the Redskins on Thursday, plays the same split end spot
as Simpson. The Vikings (2-7) play next at the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 17.
Drew Smyly Rays Jersey . 1 position. The
Mustangs (6-0), who beat Queens 50-31 last weekend, earned 17 first-place votes
and 287 points in voting by the Football Reporters of Canada. Western was last
ranked first in the country in October 2011.
Alex Cobb Jersey . With the first unit
struggling of late and Amir Johnson - one of the teams iron men - hobbling on an
injured right ankle, Patterson knew he could get the nod in a challenging
matchup against one of the leagues up and coming players at his position.

. Those lessons were more than enough to overwhelm the Utah Jazz. Lou Williams
scored 25 points and the Hawks continued their offensive upswing as they rolled
to an easy 118-85 victory over the Jazz on Friday night, winning their third
straight and for the fourth time in five games.LENNOXVILLE, Que. -- The Bishops
Gaiters are showing they belong among the countrys top varsity football teams.
Jordan Heather threw for 354 yards and two touchdowns as the Gaiters beat the
Concordia Stingers 40-18 in Canadian Interuniversity Sport football action
Saturday. The Gaiters entered the game ranked 10th among CIS teams and is likely
to climb when the rankings are updated. They started strong against visiting
Concordia, with Matthew Burke scoring on a six-yard run just 45 seconds into the
game. The touchdown was set up by Heathers 89-yard pass to Alexander Fox on the
first play of the game. Heather and Fox hooked up again later in the first, with
Fox hauling in a 17-yard touchdown pass at the 7:37 mark. Ryon McCallas one-yard
TD plunge at 12:46 of the second, then a safety and a pair of field goals from
Mathieu Paquette put the Gaiters up 29-0 at the half. After Bishops tacked on a
single, Concordia got on the board when Jamal Henry caught a 10-year touchdown
pass from Francois Dessureault at 7:53 of the third. Bishops quickly took the
momentum back, with Stephen Adekolus 38-yard TD reception and another Paquette
field goal putting the Gaiters up 40-7 after three quarters. Concordia chipped
away at the lead in the fourth with a pair of safeties and a 12-yard touchdown
run by Dessureault, but it was far to little to overcome the large deficit they
faced. Adekolu finished with 157 receiving yards, while Fox had 116. Burke had a
game-high 115 rushing yards. Dessureault was 13-for-26 with 205 passing yards, a
