In recent months, Leicesters 5,000/1 Premier League title charge has drawn only a handful of parallels from English footballs modern era. Cheap Jerseys China . Nottingham Forests triumphs under Brian Clough in the late 70s and early 80s and, further back, Ipswich Towns successful first crack at the First Division under Alf Ramsey in 1962, are both obvious comparisons. But just 18 years ago on the continent, a similar tale unfolded. The story of Kaiserslauterns 1997/98 Bundesliga win is one less told, but just as unprecedented. Having risen from the second division under footballing miracle-worker Otto Rehhagel in 1997, Kaiserslautern became the only Bundesliga team to win the title after being promoted the previous season.Their success was unthinkable given the mid-90s dominance of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, but Rehhagels first of two major career turn-ups was a masterstroke. Before leading Greece to a miraculous Euro 2004 crown six years later, Rehhagel turned German football on its head, giving players freedom on and off the pitch, and creating a team without superstars. Sound familiar? Otto Rehhagel collects the Bundesliga title after Kaiserslauterns victory Claudio Ranieris buzzword throughout the season has been freedom. Play with freedom, train with freedom, live with freedom - an alien concept to those of us who welcomed the supposed Tinkerman back to the Premier League with widespread predictions of relegation.Jose Mourinho won Chelseas first title in 50 years in 2005 with a rigorous training schedule matched by a meticulous tactical approach. This was chalk and cheese to Ranieris Blues side and his flexible approach the previous season, according to Damien Duff in Graham Hunters Big Interview, but there are no textbooks to winning trophies. Ranieri fell short of silverware during his three-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge, but his current success, and Rehhagels from years past, shows hands-off can be just as effective as hands-on. Parrallels can be drawn between Claudio Ranieris style and Rehhagels approach to the 1997/98 season For Kaiserslautern, the journey to May 1998 started with relegation. Dropping from the top flight in 1996 having won their first Bundesliga title just five years earlier, Rehhagel swiftly took the second tier by 10 points.Andree Wagner, a Kaiserslautern fan who has studied Rehhagels success closely, remembers the time well, and his description of their situation before and during the title success has uncanny similarities with Leicesters.Their relegation into the second division caused absolute agony around the team, he told Sky Sports. Even insolvency was officially discussed. But the goal for the new season was merely: stay in the Bundesliga. The fans loved the team because it was a fantastic mix of players. Fans, team and coach became an absolute union. It was apt that Kaiserslauterns opening game of the season would be at champions Bayern Munich. They won 1-0, but Rehhagel was quick to manage expectations and take the pressure off the players. Kaiserslauterns title-winning side had no superstars Otto gave us our freedom on the pitch, Olaf Marschall, who was their top scorer that season with 21 goals, told UEFA.com last year. He told us the line-up; we did the rest. Everyone helped out in defence, even the strikers, chasing the ball as soon as wed lost it. A bit like Dortmund when they won their recent Bundesliga titles. They earned 33 points out of the next possible 42 up to December, but the title talk was still under wraps, allowing the team to go on without heightened publicity, further helped by Bayern and Dortmunds rocky starts to the campaign. Like Ranieri, Rehhagels coolness and experience from previous high-level jobs helped stem the attention away from Kaiserslautern, but Wagner remembers how inside the camp, the club were conscious of their momentum since the win over Bayern.Marschall was the main man in attack, and Jurgen Rische also contributed to the goals, with young midfielder Marco Reich providing the service, he said. From the first day Kaiserslautern were riding on top of a wave. The fans were high on emotion and the team were playing successfully. But how was that success brought about on the pitch? Like Leicester, it started with industry at the back and yielded deadly results in attack, but with a defensive role rarely seen in football in 2016. Miroslav Kadlec was vital for Kaiserslautern in their title-winning season The sweeper was one of the hallmarks of German football - think Franz Beckenbauer in 1974, Klaus Augenthaler in 1990, Mattias Sammer in 1996 - and Kaiserslautern used it perfectly.Wagner says: Possibly the most important tactic was the implementation of Miroslav Kadlec as the libero, the sweeper at No 5, the independent man behind the defence. This was a special German success story in the national team. It was the key factor for success. Many saw Kadlec as the best libero in Europe, but a man that was very introverted and needed full support from the manager.Kadlec, a 33-year-old Czech international who had been at the club eight years, received that backing, and stood behind the pure, destructive defenders in Harry Koch, Axel Roos and Michael Schoenberg.Swiss international Ciriaco Sforza, a summer signing from Inter Milan, played a major role in midfield, alongside Andreas Buck, Martin Wagner, and even cameos from a young Michael Ballack. While Ballacks status rose after 1998, the other names in this fairytale side are still unfamiliar to most outside of Germany. There were no superstars, and team spirit overshadowed the need for any names to be put in lights. Ratinho (left) and Ciriaco Sforza celebrate with the Salad Bowl Everybody was a boss without being bossy, says Wagner. One player was fighting for the other without being jealous of their success. It was a mix of stars who remained grounded, nobody played the superstar. The result was an unbelievable shock for football in Germany. From December they drew more than they won, but the title was wrapped up on the penultimate day of the season with a 4-0 home win over Wolfsburg, while Bayern could only draw 0-0 at Duisburg.Cue a party for the 80,000-population city that lasted a week. Kaiserslautern was a sea of red, the players banged drums on the roof of their open-top truck, and German football has yet to see a story quite like it.With one hand on the trophy, Leicester should have that party to look forward to, but what will happen after remains a mystery.Never change a winning team, was the motto tied to Ramsey, the man who led England to World Cup glory in 1966, but with the addition of the Champions League next season, that nugget of advice wont stick for Ranieri. If Kaiserslauterns years following the title triumph are anything to go by, the warning signs are clear. Michael Ballack (middle) was let go by Kaiserslautern to join Bayer Leverkusen Kadlec left the club in the summer, along with Pavel Kuka and Andreas Brehme through retirement. Rehhagel failed to replace the departures like for like, and though a respectable fifth-place finish was achieved in 1998/99 along with a Champions League quarter-final appearance, the seeds of disharmony behind the scenes were already planted. The club allowed Ballack to leave for Bayer Leverkusen in 1999, much to the annoyance of the supporters, before Sforza, now captain, publicly criticised Rehhagel and his tactics. He was dropped, then more back and forth between Rehhagel, Sforza and the clubs CEO Jurgen Freidrich ensued, while other members of the squad supported their captain.Rehhagel took Sforza back into the squad but there was no relationship there anymore, remembers Wagner. The coach and captain didnt talk, it was a disaster for the club. The hierarchy within the team began to crumble, and leaders like Marschall, a friend of Sforza, also saw their position weakened because they supported the captain. Rehhagel saw this as an additional attack. Leicester City are on the verge of an unprecedented Premier League title win They finished fifth again in 1999/00 under Rehhagel, but by October 2000, King Ottos reign was over, resigning after what some described as a smear campaign.Kaiserslautern completed the full circle in football terms, slowly stumbling down the table for the next five seasons before relegation in 2006.For Leicester, their Premier League rivals have some making up to do next season, and their push for the top again will undoubtedly encounter more obstacles. As Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho and the other Premier League title-winning managers have declared with experience - retaining is the real challenge. BEREA, Ohio -- Browns coach Mike Pettine says he expects Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel to get equal reps with the first-team offence next Monday night against Washington. Manziel played with the first-team offence during Tuesday mornings practice, but Pettine said afterward that no decision has been made as to who will start the Browns second preseason game. But it wont necessarily matter, as Pettine wants both quarterbacks to get equal reps or close to it with the first-teamers. Whether thats by series, by quarter or by something else remains to be seen. Pettine said "theres a lot of options on the table" and the staff would figure it out when it meets during the teams off-day on Thursday. That includes deciding who will actually start the game. "Just the factor of starting a game I think is a little bit overblown in this situation because were going to try to balance the reps with the ones in the game," Pettine said. "Brian came in ahead and its a little overrated who trots out there for the first time." No matter what happens next Monday night, though, people are going to tune in to watch. Manziels debut last Saturday against the Lions drew 2.82 million viewers, making it the highest-rated and most-watched preseason game on the NFL Network. Quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains spoke to the media after practice, saying there was still no clear-cut leader in the competition. "I dont think well make the decision based on that (game)," Loggains said. "But its a body of work that theyre accumulating, putting together, and thats how well make the decision." Loggains was in the news after the NFL draft when he said in a radio interview on ESPN Arkansas that Manziel, before he was drafted, sent him a text that read: "I wish you guys wouldd come get me. Wholesale Jerseys China. Hurry up and draft me because I want to wreck this league together." That slip by Loggains didnt go over too well with the Browns. "He paid his penance for that," Pettine said. "We made him wear a visor that said, Im a dummy for a day during the spring with the walkthrough." "Coach Pettine has a unique sense of humour," Loggains said. "Im trying to get rid of (the visor). Im waiting for someone else to say something so I can pass it on to the next guy." Earlier Tuesday, the Browns signed unrestricted free-agent quarterback Rex Grossman and waived quarterback Tyler Thigpen. With so much experience in co-ordinator Kyle Shanahans offence, Grossman is happy to help his fellow quarterbacks any way he can. "If anybody has any questions or I feel the need to maybe help out, then I will," he said. "I havent shied back from that in the past and Im here to just help." NOTES: Practice ended with a 4th and 1 play to see which side wore the orange jerseys Wednesday. The defence won, stuffing Miles Austin on an end-around attempt. . WINNIPEG - Minnesota Wild 1 Winnipeg Jets 0 (Jets 35-35-10, Home 17-17-6) – It was the third time this season the Jets have been shut out, as Ilya Bryzgalov stopped all 24 shots he faced for his second straight shutout. Evander Kane was back in the lineup after missing the Saturday game in Toronto (coachs decision). Goaltender Michael Hutchinson made his NHL debut and stopped 16 of 17 shots he faced. The first period was scoreless with the Jets outshooting the Wild 7-6 in a close checking affair. The only goal of the game came early in the second, just as a Jets penalty expired. Charlie Coyle got one through Hutchinson for his 12th of the year. Shots in the second were 7-5 Minnesota. The Jets came out strong in the third but could not get one past Bryzgalov. Jets outshot the Wild 12-4 in the third and 24-17 over the game. Hutchinson was initially a Boston draft pick in 2008, and signed with the Jets last summer. On the game, "I liked 50 minutes of the game. I didnt like from the start of the second to midway through the second. We stopped moving our feet, we stopped moving the puck. NASHVILLE -- Ryan Kesler is finding his scoring touch, and that is very good news for the Vancouver Canucks. Cheap NHL Jerseys China . Kesler scored a pair of third period goals, leading the Canucks to a 3-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night. Kesler has four goals in his last two games. With the game tied at 1 in the third, he scored twice from just outside the Nashville crease. "It was a battle and there wasnt a lot of room out there, but we found a way to win again, and thats what we need to keep doing," Kesler said. "Youve got to fight to get to those tough areas and we did tonight." Kesler scored his first at 7:37. From the left side, Jason Garrisons slap shot was stopped by Nashville goaltender Marek Mazanec, but Kesler outmuscled Nashvilles David Legwand for the rebound and beat Mazanec with a wrist shot. "Both teams were playing, and we were matched pretty evenly," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "It came down to who was more detailed, disciplined, and who was winning all of those 1-on-1 battles." Kesler struck again at 14:15. With the Canucks on a power play, Kesler collected the rebound of another shot by Garrison in the low slot and backhanded it past Mazanec. "Kesler has been playing really well, he was probably our best player tonight," Vancouver coach John Tortorella said. "He put us on his shoulders there and I thought led the way." Brad Richardson also scored for Vancouver, which has won three of four. Colin Wilson scored for Nashville, losers of three straight. Richardson scored the games first goal at 15:24 of the second period. From the goal line to the right of the Nashville net, Richardson passed to Dale Weise in the right circle. Weises shot was stopped by Mazanec, but the rebound came right to Richardson, and he banked in a shot off of Mazanecs left leg pad. On the same day he was named the NHLs Rookie of the Month for November, Mazanec made his 11th straight start in goal for the Predators. Wilson answered back just 30 seconds after Richardsons goal. Skating through the slot, Patric Hornqvist slid a nice pass to Wilson on the right post. From there, Wilson had an easy tap-in past Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo for his fifth goal of the season. "It was a typical game that we play against these guys; low-scoring, tight checking game," Luongo said. "It was tough to get the lead and give it up 30 seconds later, but guys stuck with it. We had a big third period and the power-play goal was huge for us there." Wilson has scored in consecutive games for the first time this season. "Its good to get that goal," Wilson said. "I felt we still had a chance in the third. We have to start scoring." After missing three games with an upper-body injury, Hornqvist has an assist in each of his last two games. Vancouver defenceman Alexander Edler did not return to the game after the first period. Tortorella said that Edler had a lower-body injury and is day to day. NOTES: Nashville D Shea Weber missed his second consecutive game with an eye injury. The team said hes day to day. ... The Predators had not allowed a power-play goal against in their previous eight games. ... The Canucks said left winger Alex Burrows suffered a broken jaw during Sundays 3-2 win at Carolina, and will be out for at least four weeks. ... Vancouver concluded a four-game road trip and now heads home for their next five games. NHL Jerseys China . Last years runner-up, Sara Errani, also reached the last eight in straight sets. Flipkens converted all four of her break points against Meusburger, and the third-seeded Errani broke Karin Knapps serve five times to win their all-Italian match 6-4, 6-3. Cheap NHL Adidas Jerseys . ARLINGTON, Texas -- When Sean Lees left leg slid out from under him and he didnt get up, teammate Barry Church figured the Dallas Cowboys were in for some bad news on the first day of off-season practice. Jose Abreu White Sox Jersey . The fifth-year safety also knew Dallas defensive leadership was shifting his direction. "I was right behind him when it happened," Church said Wednesday, a day after Lee tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and put his season in jeopardy. "And thats one of my best friends on the team. Feels kind of awful. But we have his back no matter what." Cowboys coach Jason Garrett refused to offer any details on Lees injury after participating in a home run derby for charity at the home of the Texas Rangers. The team reported on its website that Lee has been told he has a torn ACL. Even with a quick recovery from such an injury, Lee wouldnt be ready until the second half of the season. His teammates talked like they were expecting to be without the linebacker who hasnt played a full season in his four years in the league. "You always have to stay positive," cornerback Brandon Carr said of a defence that was plagued by injuries a year ago and finished last in the league and is now without Lee and career franchise sacks leader DeMarcus Ware, who was released in March. "Its a very unfortunate situation -- a guy that works his butt off each and every day. He brings a lot to the table, but at the same time its the next man up mentality." First on that list might be Church, who assumed a leadership role when Lee missed the final three games last year with a neck injury and is versatile enough to fill the role of a linebacker for a few snaps. Church missed the last 13 games in 2012 with a torn Achilles tendon before bouncing back last year with the first 16-game season of his career. If the Cowboys are to break a three-year rut of 8-8 finishes and a four-year playoff drought, plenty will fall to him. And Lee has already told him that. "Me and a couple of the other guys are going to have to take over that defence, just lead the younger guys in the right direction," Church said. "Feel like we can do that." The oft-injured Lee went down during the 11-on-11 portion of Tuesdays practice. His left leg slid out from under him as rookie guard Zack Martin was closing in for a block, and Martin rolled over him. Contact isnt allowed in off-season workouts, but blockers frequently engage linemen and linebackers before plays stop in 11-on-11 drills. Lee was already on his way to the ground when Martin lunged over him. "I dont really know what happened," said Martin, the Cowboys first-round pick at No. 16. "Two guys playing hard, running to the ball." The 27-year-old Lee hasnt played a full season in four years. The middle linebacker has missed 15 games over the past two years, including five of the final six games in 2013. Lee signed a six-year extension worth up to $51 million last year, but durability-based incentives are built into the deal. Hes already likely to miss out on a bonus in 2015 for not playing enough snaps in 2013 or the coming season. When healthy, Lee is among the most productive linebackers in the league, leading his position with 11 interceptions since entering the league in 2010 despite missing 18 games. But his injury history dates to his college days, when he also tore a knee ligament during off-season workouts. The right ACL injury in spring practice in 2008 kept him out that season, pushing his senior year to 2009. He was already back at the teams practice facility a day after his latest injury, going over plays with some of the younger players. That group includes rookie fourth-round pick Anthony Hitchens, who could get a shot at replacing Lee. "He wants to win, if hes on the field or not," Hitchens said. "It means a lot to me, being a young guy that hes helping me out already. Hes been here for a while, so he knows all the pieces of the puzzle. So I always go to him and ask questions." Not that he wants it, but Lee apparently will have plenty of time to answer them. Mike Lowell Red Sox Jersey . Jamies number grades given are out of five, with five being the best mark. Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings (3) - Early goal against was on the power play. Clay Buchholz Red Sox Jersey . “The shootout, theres nothing wrong with it, I think its an exciting part of the game but its just one small aspect,” said Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman. “Its a skill exhibition. If you can get it back closer to regular hockey and have it decided that way; that would be my preference.” “I dont think its a knock on the shootout, I think more of the managers would like to see it end in overtime,” added Washington Capitals GM George McPhee.6) The Miami Heat are the envy of every team in the NBA, not because of their talented roster, but because of their photobombing skills. Although it wasnt the King grabbing photobombing honours in this GIF, were sure he must have enjoyed seeing Chris Bosh appear outta nowhere just as much as we did. He even had to duck at the end to stop his head from hitting the rim. (2013 Eastern Conference Finals Game 7 vs Indiana Pacers):4) Watch Lebron soar like an eagle and cram in a dunk against the Wizards. The arm extension on thiis is insane. Luis Aparicio White Sox Jersey. (2008 First Round Game 1 vs Washington Wizards):3) Lebron hits a buzzer beater 3 ball against the Magic and celebrates hard. This is a big time 3 considering the distance of the shot and the timing. Clutch. (2009 Eastern Conference Finals vs Magic):2) When the games are intense Lebron will do anything to win, unfortunately this has led to a bit of a history of interesting but hilarious flops. (2012 First Round Game 1 vs New York Knicks):1) Another great dance from Lebron. After winning his first championship what does he do? Flails his arms like there is no tomorrow. With the 2017 NFL draft happening on Thursday, TCU has seen its fair share of former athletes drafted and play in the league. While some have Bud Dupree Womens Jersey gone on and made a big impact in the sport and have become huge playmakers on and off the field, others didn’t have quite that success. Either through injury, criminal reasons or performance, they never quite reached the NFL standard.

Here’s a look at TCU’s top three biggest draft surprises and busts:

Surprises

LaDainian Tomlinson: When someone thinks of TCU football, L.T. easily comes to mind. In his time at TCU, Tomlinson helped the Frogs win their first bowl game, set a NCAA FBS record for most rushing yards in a single game, won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's best running back and was a finalist for the 2000 Heisman Trophy. When he finished his collegiate career, he was ranked sixth in NCAA Division I history with 5,263 rushing yards.

And his success kept going when he made the pros. Tomlinson was drafted as the fifth overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. Tomlinson spent nine seasons with the Chargers before playing his final two seasons with the New York Jets. Before he ended his 11-year career, he was selected to five Pro Bowls, was an All-Pro six times, and won two rushing titles (2006 and 2007). When he retired he ranked fifth in career rushing yards (13,684), seventh in all-purpose yards (18,456), second in career Cameron Heyward Youth Jersey rushing touchdowns (145), and third in total touchdowns (162).

Andy Dalton: Andy Dalton is another former Frog who shaped and molded TCU into the football program it is today. After redshirting his freshman year, Dalton came back to lead TCU to an 11-2 season his sophomore year, a perfect regular season his junior year and finished it out with an undefeated season his senior year. Dalton held school career records for wins (42), passing yards (10,314), pass attempts (1,317), completions (812), and completion percentage (61.6) until Trevone Boykin surpassed him.

Dalton is one of six quarterbacks in NFL history to have thrown for over 3,000 yards in each of his first three seasons. He is also one of only five quarterbacks to have passed for at least 20 touchdowns in each of his first three seasons. He is also the only quarterback to lead the Bengals to four consecutive playoff berths, and one of five quarterbacks to lead his team to the playoffs in each of his first four seasons.

Dalton continues to give back to TCU and frequently visits coach Patterson and his players.

Jerry Hughes: Hughes demonstrated success early on during his time at TCU. He was one of four true freshmen to start in 2006. He played in all 13 games as a sophomore, recording at least one tackle in each game. But, he took over as a full-time starter his junior year. That season he recorded 15 sacks, 18.5 tackles for a loss, 6 forced fumbles, 2 interceptions and returned one of those picks for a touchdown. He led the nation with his 15 sacks. Senior year he turned up the momentum again, tallying a career-high 54 tackles and 11.5 sacks. Hughes was recognized as a unanimous first-team All-American.

Hughes was selected 31st overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2010 NFL draft. He was the first Horned Frog selected in the first round since Tomlinson. He was also the first TCU defensive player selected in the first round http://www.coltsshopauthentic.com/shop-by-players-20-darius-butler-jersey-c-1_10.html since Bob Lilly, who was selected 13th overall by the Dallas Cowboys in 1961. During Hughes’ rookie season, he appeared in 12 games making six tackles. Hughes was traded to the Bills in 2013 and finished his first season by making 46 tackles, 10 sacks and two forced fumbles in 16 games with one start. In 2015, the Bills and Hughes agreed to a five-year contract worth at least $45 million.

Busts

Trevone Boykin: Boykin brought back the spark in Horned Frog football. In 2014 as the starting quarterback, Boykin passed for 3,901 yards and threw 33 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, while also rushing for an additional 707 yards and 8 touchdowns. He led the Frogs to a #3 ranking and a 12-1 record. That season he also finished in 4th place in the 2014 Heisman Trophy voting. In 2015, Boykin returned as the starter and passed for 3,575 yards with 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Boykin had the potential to be a high pick for TCU in the draft. However, the night before his senior bowl game, Boykin was arrested for punching a cop outside of a bar in San Antonio. While he managed to sign with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent, Boykin could have been drafted higher and had the potential to sign with anyone.

Daryl Washington: Washington was selected 47th overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2010 NFL draft. He made the Pro Bowl and was named a second-team All-Pro in 2012 after making 134 tackles with an interception and two forced fumbles for the Arizona Cardinals. But, three seasons of substance-abuse violations and a guilty plea to an aggravated assault charge led to Washington being suspended indefinitely. While he is making a case to be reinstated, the odds don’t look to be in his favor.

Aaron Brown: As a freshman he ran for 163 yards in a nationally televised game against Utah. On the year, he rushed for 758 yards and six touchdowns, as well as three receiving touchdowns. His efforts helped the Frogs win the Mountain West Conference championship and he was named MWC Freshman of the Year.

He was drafted 192nd overall in the 6th roundhttp://www.officialchargesshop.com/shop-by-players-craig-mager-jersey-c-1_10.html by the Detroit Lions in the 2009 NFL Draft. During his first NFL preseason game, Brown scored two touchdowns. However, on September 4, 2011, he was waived by the Lions. He was re-signed on November 28 and released again on December 27. Brown later signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in February 2012, but was once again waived in August 2012.
