Das Management bemühte sich bei der Veröffentlichung der Zahlen um Beschwichtigung; man müsse sich eben weiter an das sich ändernde Verhalten des Konsumenten anpassen und werde deshalb künftig verstärkt auf den mobilen Kanal setzen. Dennoch bleibt die Frage, ob Nike die eigenen hochfliegenden Pläne bis 2020 umsetzen kann, falls das Wachstum nicht wieder deutlich anzieht.
Hugo Boss: Einbruch der E-Commerce-Umsätze
Die deutsche Herrenmarke Hugo Boss dagegen kann von 18 Prozent Online-Wachstum nur träumen. Noch härter haben der Studie zufolge Hersteller von Spielzeug (-18,14 Prozent Visits), Büchern (-19,57 Prozent Visits) und Tierbedarf (-41,69 Prozent) zu kämpfen. In diesen Bereichen ist die Datenbasis allerdings eher gering, weil Hersteller in diesen Segmenten noch größtenteils auf den klassischen Vertrieb über Händler setzen und keinen eigenen Hersteller-Shop betreiben.
Ein signifikantes Einzelbeispiel aus dem Bereich Spielzeug lässt dennoch aufhorchen: Der Traffic auf dem durchaus liebevoll gestalteten und sinnvoll mit der Brand-Website verwobenen Lego-Shop brach um über 18 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahr ein. Diese anderen Marktteilnehmer sind immer häufiger jene Handelsplattformen, die aufgrund ihrer Reichweite und Präsenz selbst bereits Marken geworden sind: Amazon natürlich, im Modebereich Zalando, bei Elektronik Media-Markt und so weiter.
Beispiel Adidas: massive Rabattstrategie
Wie Hersteller in dieser Welt der Online-Plattformen bestehen können, zeigt Adidas auf durchaus umstrittene Art und Weise: So versucht der Nike-Konkurrent zurzeit dem Traffic-Schwund im eigenen Online Shop mit einer massiven Rabattstrategie zu begegnen - sehr zum Ärger der klassischen Handelspartner, die mit den Kampfpreisen nicht mitgehen können.
