The 2 Week Diet

Most people think about eating less and exercising more in order to lose weight. Certainly both of those activities are important to losing weight. However, many people are not aware that their bellies may be growing because of anxiety and stress in their lives. Learning to relax can be one of the most important weight loss tools you can learn.

When you experience high amounts of stress and anxiety your body deposits fat in your abdominal area. The experience of high stress also leads to increased levels of a chemical called cortisol in your body. Cortisol levels can lead to cravings and emotional eating. During times of stress many individuals find that it is difficult to sleep as well. Research shows that individuals who do not get enough sleep per night are more likely to gain weight. In an interesting study by researchers at the Columbia University Medical Center, they found that individuals who get only 5 hours of sleep were 60 percent more likely to be overweight than individuals who get at least 7 hours of sleep. Individuals who get 6 hours of sleep per night were still 27 percent more likely to be over weight than those who got 7 hours of sleep per night.
