miles in 2:00.51. Deauville paid $14.60 to win.-Effinex defended his title in
the $500,000 Suburban Handicap, beating Samraat by a neck.Best known for
finishing second to American Pharoah in last years Breeders Cup Classic, Effinex
sat second in the Suburban while Samraat set the pace. They battled right to the
wire before Effinex prevailed for his ninth win in 24 starts.Mike Smith was in
the saddle for trainer Jimmy Jerkens as Effinex paid $6.30 to win.-Fish Trappe
Road took the $500,000 Dwyer for 3-year-olds on the main track by 1 1/4 lengths
over 6/5 favorite Economic Model.The gray colt trained by Bret Calhoun and
ridden by Luis Saez improved to 2-2-0 in four starts at Belmont. He paid $8.70
to win.-A. P. Indian and jockey Joe Bravo cut the corner around the turn to take
the lead and held off Marking by a neck in the $400,000 Belmont Sprint
Championship. A. P. Indian paid $13.80 to win.-Coppa remained unbeaten with a
neck win in the $150,000 Victory Ride for 3-year-old filly sprinters. She
prevailed by a head over Malibu Stacy to improve her record to 3 for 3.Coppa
paid $3.90 to win as the 4-5 favorite.
