New Jordans 2016 As a first-ever brand collaboration with the Brooklyn-based artist, the Air Jordan 4 x KAWS celebrates the two iconic brands by incorporating the style and soul of Jordan Brand with the larger-than-life story of KAWS. Collaborating for the first time is KAWS and Jordan Brand, the end result is a one of kind Air Jordan 4 made out of a unique mix of materials and designs that include features such as a Cool Grey suede upper said to be inspired by KAWS' companion pieces and a Glow in the Dark outsole with dual branding on it. Additional special dual branding is noted on the heel tabs. Embossed Jumpman on the tongue, leather lining which also houses even more branding on the inner tongue and the additional suede noted on the midsole (yes midsole) are just a few of the other standout features on the shoe.
The KAWS Jordans 2017 collection will also feature a number of apparel pieces to match the premium Cool Grey suede colorway, and today we get the best look yet at the pair courtesy of an early sample that just appeared for sale on eBay. The KAWS Companion character is subtly referenced throughout with a similar aesthetic to the Air Jordan 11 Suede coming with a monochromatic Cool Grey colorway. Different variations of a premium suede come in the form of both a bolstered hairy suede and a smoother base for a unique twist on the classic Air Jordan 4 retro. The KAWS Air Jordan 4 continues to be one of the most sought after collaborations coming in 2017, and it isn't that hard to see why. The collaborative effort with the world renowned artist sees Jordan Brand continue to seek more premium lifestyle-ready collaborative efforts, something that's only grown from the Jumpman over the past few years.
The New Air Jordan Shoes continues to inspire the future with its mix of materials incorporating a premium Cool Grey suede upper, a nod to KAWS' companion pieces, and Glow in the Dark outsole. Other notable details includes KAWS “XX” on the heel, branded inner tongues and insoles. Brian Donnelly who goes by KAWS is a New York based artist. Over the years, he has participated in various collaborations which includes Nike. This will be the first time he partners up with Jordan Brand. The sneaker sports premium grey suede throughout the tonal upper, along with KAWS' signature "XX" mark on the heel, which replaces the usual NIKE or Jumpman branding. A glow-in-the-dark outsole is added underneath, while further KAWS branding is seen on the custom footbeds, lacetips and subtle embroidery throughout. The pinnacle of the Kaws Hype era came nearly a decade ago, when the artist (real name Brian Donnelly) was designing Kanye West album covers, Hennessy bottles, Supreme skate decks, and his own streetwear collection called OriginalFake.
