Jordans 2017 presents the Air Jordan 5 in a new "Shanghai Shen" colorway. This Laney-esque colorway features a black base with yellow and blue accents featured on the midsole, lace lock and tongue. The blue is also featured on the Jumpman logos and the inner lining of the tongue. This Air Jordan 5 came dressed in a flipped Black version of the "Laney" colorway with a call out to the city of Shanghai with an embroidered graphic on the heel. Following the overseas exclusives like the "Quai 54" and "Tokyo23" Air Jordan 5 offerings, Jordan Brand used the Air Jordan 5 once again for another international release. the "Shanghai Shen" Jordan 5 features a black nubuck upper with Laney-style yellow and blue accents, capped off with a special embroidered graphic at the heel.
As this decorated Women Jordans 2017 has raised a few eyebrows over the last several weeks, we sense a release soon, however, that too is uncertain as rumors have it only releasing overseas. With our best look yet at hand, new images reiterate this style's addition of the Chinese "Shen" logo which is then followed up by a black suede upper plus varsity royal and varsity maize accents. At first as a tribute to Michael Jordan old Emsley A. Laney High School, the Air Jordan 5 "Shanghai Shen" actually celebrates Shanghai’s unique standing. Known to many as the "Pearl of the Orient" or "Paris of the East," this vibrant coast city also went by an older designation of "Shen," one which prominently displayed in yellow on AJ5's lateral side. In reference to the city itself, where modernity seamlessly intersects with traditions, Jordan Brand designers actualized the concept by keeping the upper in the classic black nubuck, while adding a splash of non-conventionalism in the forms of teal light blue and bold yellow to the shoe's midsole. Elaborating on symbolism once again, the color blue represents Shanghai's dependance on water as a port city. Yellow, in the meantime, signifies Huangpu District and the culturally important Luwan neighborhood within it.
New Jordans 2016 continues to build their seemingly insurmountable success with a plethora of exclusive colorways hitting regions other than the United States to spread the legend of the Jumpman. During the 90s, fans of the shoes will remember heading over to a store without a care in the world and being able to pick out a selection possibly weeks after an initial release. The "Shanghai Shen" Jordan 5s will be releasing in Shanghai first followed by a worldwide launch. Courtesy of Hypebeast, we get a close look at these beauties from Brand Jordan. With a Laney High School inspired colorway, these Jordan’s combine a black base with yellow and blue accents featured on the midsole, lace lock and tongue. Utilising Laney High hues of blue and yellow, black durabuck locks down the upper, branded, signed and sealed in matching complementing tints.
