Navajo Hearing System  Some of us suffer from Tinnitus. Just what is Tinnitus? Tinnitus is what it is called when people think they are hearing a ringing sound in their ears but there is no actual ringing sound. While it is not a disease itself it is generally an underlying symptom of a disease or complication. In order to treat your Tinnitus it is a good idea to first know or at least have an idea of what is causing your symptoms.

Tinnitus can be caused by many things and knowing just what is causing you to experience it can be quite difficult to determine. It is however very common to experience Tinnitus so you shouldn't worry yourself until you know for sure or not if it is something serious. It is so common that roughly one in every five people over the age of 55 will experience some Tinnitus.

Tinnitus can be caused by ear infections, nose allergies, ear wax build up, medicine side effects, foreign objects in the ear canal (cotton swabs most commonly), and can also be a symptom of hearing loss. Some people have reported experiencing Tinnitus after being involved in a motor vehicle collision or being in the presence of really loud sounds such as gun shots, fireworks, or concert speaker systems.

These however usually do not last long and usually fade over time.

The cause of your Tinnitus can be diagnosed by a medical health professional. They will usually send you to a hearing specialist that will use an audio metric test and hearing loss tests to determine what is causing your Tinnitus.

So now that you have determined the cause of your Tinnitus, what do you do if you cannot cure it or if relieving the cause has not worked? What treatments can you use for your Tinnitus? Here are some you can try in the hopes if relieving your symptoms.
