ST. Richard Sherman Jersey . PETERSBURG, Florida - Surely the Blue Jays were double checking their surroundings after Monday nights stunning, come-from-behind, 8-7 win over the Rays. Good things – wins included – rarely happen at Tropicana Field. Heck, this park has been Torontos kryptonite since the Rays were the Devil Rays. "I mean its definitely huge," said J.P. Arencibia, the biggest Blue Jays hero on a night when there were many. "They always play us well and they play everybody well for that fact. Theyve got a great pitching staff over there and usually when they put seven on the board theyre usually going to have a pretty good night. Fortunately we were able to come back and answer and swing the bats." It was Arencibias two-out, two-run home run in the ninth off Rays closer Fernando Rodney that turned a 7-6 deficit into an 8-7 lead. It was the coup de grace; for the Blue Jays had begun to chip away much earlier after Mark Buehrle spotted the Rays the games first seven runs in a disastrous third inning. Colby Rasmus hit a two-run home run and Melky Cabrera had an RBI single to get three back in the fourth. Mark DeRosa, pinch hitting for Munenori Kawasaki in the sixth, dropped a fly ball just over the other side of the right field wall to cut the deficit to 7-5. A Jose Bautista sacrifice fly reduced the Rays lead to one in the eighth. Cue Arencibia, whose game-changing home run came in his third at-bat after hed pinch hit for starter Henry Blanco in the sixth. "He throws hard," Arencibia said of Rodney. "So I was ready for his fastball and wanted to just hit it. I was able to put a good swing on it; you know when I hit it and I kind of saw how good I hit it I knew that it was going to get out of the park." Buehrle, a laid back type whose experience and winning pedigree enables him to compartmentalize a bad outing, is growing tired of his repeated struggles. "If it keeps on happening for a little bit longer, then yeah, its going to be frustrating," he said. "I mean its frustrating now but its going to be even more frustrating because I feel like Im not doing anything to help these guys win. You know theyre out their battling and I didnt get the loss and we came back and battled. But to me Im not doing my job of giving us a chance to win out there. I know I went six innings but a seven-spot in one inning, thats kind of embarrassing." Manager John Gibbons was eager to see his club build off of Sundays 10-2 win over the Mariners. He didnt envision winning in such dramatic fashion. "I really dont know how to describe that one, you know down big early," said Gibbons. "We hung in there, some big hits like you said and I dont want to say we were due but in a lot of ways we were due. But you dont expect it to happen that way." NOTES - The Blue Jays have won back-to-back games for just the second time this season (April 12-13 at Kansas City.) - J.P. Arencibia began the game on the bench, marking the first time this season he wasnt in the opening lineup for a game not started by R.A. Dickey. Arencibia wasnt happy but deferred to his manager to explain the decision. "Just want to run one game like that and see," said John Gibbons before the game. "You know, Mark (Buehrle,) its been a tough go for him and well just change up the catcher and see if that does anything." Given Buehrles struggles in the third inning, its safe to say the change at catcher had little effect on the pitchers success. - With the victory, the Blue Jays snapped an eight-game losing streak at Tropicana Field and a five-game, overall, winless skid against the Rays. - From the strange-but-true file: Mark DeRosas sixth inning home run came on an 0-2 count. DeRosa, whose played parts of 16 seasons in the majors and has hit 96 career home runs, had never gone deep on an 0-2 count in his career. TUESDAY Ricky Romero makes his second start of the season for the Blue Jays. Tampa Bay counters with right-hander Roberto Hernandez (formerly of the Indians and who you may better remember as Fausto Carmona.) Nick Vannett Seahawks Jersey . - After leading the Saints to a fourth playoff appearance in five seasons, Drew Brees expressed confidence in the direction of his team and, perhaps more importantly, showed a willingness to listen to contract proposals if the team needs his help getting under the NFLs salary cap. The All-Pro lineman got the leg bent under him while trying to make a tackle during the first half of a 22-20 overtime loss at Miami on Thursday night. The medical staff initially thought hed torn the ligament, and the test a day later in Cincinnati confirmed it.(SportsNetwork.com) - Jon Lester eyes his fourth win this postseason on Monday when the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals play a pivotal Game 5 of the World Series at Busch Stadium. Lester gave the Red Sox the early advantage in this series, as he scattered five hits over 7 2/3 scoreless innings to nail down the Game 1 win and improve to 3-1 this postseason, while lowering his ERA to 1.67. He is also 2-0 lifetime in the World Series and has yet to allow a run in 13 2/3 innings. "His physical strength and endurance is unique," said Red Sox manager John Farrell. "I think the one thing we all recognize is that power stuff wins in the postseason. Hes got it. He maintains it. And in addition to his physical strengths, theres a degree of concentration that hes capable of maintaining that gives him the ability to execute consistently." Of course, during his Game 1 win a St. Louis Cardinals minor leaguer tweeted out a picture and suggested that Lester may be hiding a foreign substance in his glove. Videos then surfaced and the story seemed to take on a life of its own before the Cardinals and Major League Baseball both said there was nothing to it. "Im sure theres going to be a focus on my glove and focus on my hands and what Im doing, but Ive got to worry about the Cardinals," said Lester. "If Im worried about what people are looking at, Im worried about the wrong things. Im going to go out and pitch my game." St. Louis, meanwhile, will turn to its ace Adam Wainwright, who will be trying to bounce back from a poor showing in that Game 1 assignment. Wainwright lost his second straight postseason start in that one and allowed five runs -- three earned -- and six hits in five innings. The NL wins leader this season with 19, Wainwright is 2-2 this postseason with a 2.25 ERA. "I honestly dont know why my mechanics were as bad as they were, why my delivery was off as much as it was," Wainwright said. "But I feel like Ive put in a lot of good reps in front of the mirror and watching film and feeling my delivery, learning the basics all over again. I feel likke Ive made a lot of good adjustments to be ready to throw some quality pitches the next time. Chris Clemons Jersey. I threw maybe four or five quality pitches the whole time I was pitching (in Game 1)." Wainwright is 4-0 with a 1.07 ERA in eight postseason games -- four starts -- in St. Louis. Boston evened this best-of-seven set at two games apiece on Sunday with a 4-2 win, as Jonny Gomes cracked a three-run homer in the sixth inning to break a tie and David Ortiz reached base in all four plate appearances. The Red Sox bounced back nicely after losing Game 3 Saturday night on the first walk-off obstruction call in World Series history. Sundays game ended abruptly with a pickoff when Red Sox closer Koji Uehara caught Kolten Wong leaning off first base with Carlos Beltran at the plate as the tying run for the Cardinals. Wong said his foot slipped as he turned to get back to the bag. "I knew I was dead," said Wong. Gomes -- a late replacement when Shane Victorino was scratched from the lineup because of lower back tightness -- homered into the Boston bullpen behind left field with two outs off reliever Seth Maness, who had just entered for St. Louis starter Lance Lynn. "The one thing you can guarantee is when Im in the lineup, Im going to be swinging," said Gomes. Maness threw Gomes five sinkers, leaving the last one up in the zone. "I just missed my spot," said Maness. Beltran had an RBI single in the defeat for the Cardinals, who lost for the first time this postseason when scoring first (8-1). Of the previous 42 times that a World Series has been tied 2-2, the winner of Game 5 has gone on to win the series 27 times, but just three times in the last 10 occasions. This is the 10th time that St. Louis has been in this position and has won Game 5 just four times. However, it has gone on to win the series in eight of those instances. Boston, meanwhile, has been tied 2-2 three other times and has lost the series on all three occasions, despite winning Game 5 twice. This series will shift back to Fenway Park for Game 6 on Wednesday.
