ST.
Cory Schneider Devils Jersey . LOUIS – Its
difficult to imagine Sunday nights fourth game of the World Series unfolding in
a more dramatic fashion than Saturdays 5-4 Cardinals win. St. Louis won in
walk-off fashion, to take a 2-1 series lead, when Red Sox third baseman
Will Middlebrooks was ruled to have obstructed with base runner Allen Craig. The
game also featured a questionable decision by Boston manager John Farrell to
allow his relief pitcher, Brandon Workman, to hit with one out in the ninth
inning of a tie game. We also saw two bullpens, both strong at the back end,
cough up runs. Set up men Carlos Martinez (St. Louis) and Craig Breslow (Boston)
struggled and each of Junichi Tazawa and Koji Uehara (Boston) and
Trevor Rosenthal (St. Louis) allowed inherited runners to score. Tonight is as
close as it gets to a must-win for the Red Sox without the math actually
requiring a victory. The prospect of being down 3-1 and with Cardinals ace
Adam Wainwright scheduled to pitch Mondays Game 5 in St. Louis is not appealing
to the American League representatives. Game 4 Preview: Pitching Matchup: Red
Sox RHP Clay Buchholz (Regular season: 12-1, 1.74, 1.025 WHIP in 108.1IP;
Playoffs: 3GS: 0-0, 5.40, 1.440 WHIP in 16.2IP) There isnt a St. Louis player
whos faced Buchholz in a major league game. Lineup Considerations:
Jarrod Saltalamacchia, whose errant throw to third base precipitated the
obstruction call against Will Middlebrooks to force home St. Louis winning run
in Game 3, will be replaced behind the plate by David Ross. Its more likely that
Saltalamacchias offensive struggles have contributed to manager John Farrells
decision making. Saltalmacchia has struck out a whopping 19 times in 32
postseason at-bats. Manager John Farrell says his entire bullpen is available
for tonights game and also suggested he could turn to Game 2 starter John Lackey
for an inning, if necessary. Pitching Matchup: Cardinals RHP Lance Lynn (Regular
season: 15-10, 3.97, 1.314 WHIP in 201.2IP; Playoffs: 3G, 2GS, 2-1, 5.40, 1.971
WHIP in 11.2IP) Six Red Sox position players have a combined 15 career big
league at-bats against Lynn. Only David Ross has an extra base hit (double).
Lineup Considerations: Allen Craig, who scored Game 3s winning run in dramatic
fashion, appeared to reinjure his sprained foot on the play. Manager
Mike Matheny confirmed Craig underwent an x-ray, which confirmed there were no
breaks. Craig will continue to be available in a pinch hit role. Shortstop
Pete Kozma, whos hitless in eight World Series at-bats, will sit in favour of
Daniel Descalso. Game 4 Prediction: Its hard to get a read on Lance Lynn at the
moment. No doubt, hes a talented young pitcher, but hes been vulnerable in this
postseason as his numbers suggest. The Red Sox likely will have to piece it
together. Clay Buchholz is working through shoulder stiffness, which becomes an
increasing problem as the game goes on. If Buchholz is limited to five innings
and 80 pitches, or thereabouts, look for Ryan Dempster to back fill. With so
many variables, were looking at another game decided by the bullpens and because
of that, St. Louis will win and take a stranglehold on the series. Final score:
7-5.
Damon Severson Devils Jersey . Scott Kazmir
allowed four hits in seven shutout innings, Michael Brantley hit a two-run homer
in a three-run first inning and the Indians maintained their hold on an AL
wild-card spot with a 4-1 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday night.
Ken Daneyko Jersey . The defence is doing its
part, too. Drew Brees threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first half and the
guys on the other side made sure that was enough, sending the Saints to a 17-13
victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night.

. Perez, 35, posted a 1-2 record with a 3.69 earned-run average in 19 relief
appearances last season. His season ended Aug. 9 due to a torn ligament in his
left elbow. Perez joins infielder Andy LaRoche and catcher Mike Nickeas with
minor-league agreements for 2014 that include invitations to attend spring
training.KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Down to his final strike, Billy Butler came
through. Butlers two-out, two-run double in the ninth tied it for Kansas City
before Alex Gordon won it an inning later with an RBI single to lift the Royals
to a 6-5 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. "I figured he might go
something off-speed and he just left it up and I put a pretty good swing on it
and got it to the gap," Butler said. "I was still sitting on a fastball, but you
cant eliminate any pitches. He just got it up in the zone. I put a barrel on it
and something good happened." The Royals have 11 come-from-behind victories in
their 17 wins this season. "We continue to fight," Butler said. "We just dont
give up. We never lost focus or our desire to come back. Its not going to happen
every night, but we just continue to put pretty good at-bats together." Lorenzo
Cain led off the 10th with his third hit and stole second with one out. With two
outs, Chris Getz was intentionally walked and George Kottaras then walked on
five pitches, loading the bases for Gordon. Gordon singled on the first pitch
from rookie Brian Omogrosso (0-1), who made his first appearance since being
called up Wednesday. Greg Holland (1-1) worked a perfect 10th after relievers
Tim Collins and Aaron Crow allowed four runs in the seventh for the White Sox to
take a 5-3 lead. "Our bullpen is not going to give up too many leads I feel
like," Holland said. "When it does, our lineup steps up and really gets after it
and take good at-bats back-to-back. Were really tough on pitching staffs right
now." Butlers tying double scored pinch runner Chris Getz and George Kottaras.
Addison Reed blew his first save in 18 opportunities dating to Aug. 25. He was
10 for 10 in save chances this season. "I was wild," Reed said. "I couldnt get
comfortable. I walked the first two guys and I wasnt even close.
Pavel Zacha Jersey. I was all over the place.
The 3-2 pitch to Butler was a hanging slider, it was a terrible pitch. I wanted
to make the best pitch I could and I hung it and he made me pay for it. "It
stinks everybody before me threw their butts off and the offence came through,
and I let them down." Alex Rios homered and drove in two runs and Alejandro De
Aza contributed a two-run double for the White Sox. Royals reliever Tim Collins
started the seventh with a 3-1 lead, but allowed three runs on three hits
without retiring a batter. In his past two outings, Collins has yielded five
runs on seven hits and gotten only two outs. Chicago scored four times in the
seventh. Aaron Crow threw a wild pitch that let one run score and Rios hit his
team-leading seventh home run. Royals right-hander Wade Davis, who had allowed
15 runs on 20 hits and seven walks in 8 1-3 innings in losing his previous two
starts, held the White Sox to one run on five hits in six innings. Davis gave up
a run in the third on Rios groundout with the bases loaded. "Every time we come
here these guys give us a hard time," Rios said. "When youve got the lead you
feel good and they hurt you at the end. We have to keep grinding." White Sox
left-hander Jose Quintana held the Royals hitless for four innings before they
scored three runs in the fifth. Miguel Tejada and Alcides Escobar had RBI
singles and the other run scored on second baseman Jeff Keppingers error. NOTES:
White Sox RHP Jake Peavy will be skipped Monday, missing his second straight
start with back spasms. LHP Chris Sale will start the series finale in Peavys
place. The Royals will counter with RHP James Shields, a rematch of the season
opener which Sale won 1-0. ... Tejada started his first game of the season at
second base. He had started two games at third base and one at first base.
